fabulous 8.5

yesterday I wanted to run but did not. As I have said, not training for a marathon gives me the luxury of choosing not to run for whatever reason I dont feel like running - such as a cold day with pouring rain and thunderstorms. Like yesterday.

The rain petered off this morning, and the temperatures rose a bit, so after doing some things I went out at about 10:30 for a run. People were out bundled up in hats and heavy coats - they must have thought I was crazy to be outside in a tshirt and shorts, but the weather was actually pretty pleasant, not including a brief cold wind every now and then in different spots.

I ran right from the start like I had a bee in my bonnet and felt like I was going to have a fast run. It held up and I ran 8.5km at a quick pace. That also includes the last kilometer or so when I went to go buy a kugel for shabbos and finished my run carrying the kugel home, so that was a significantly slower kilometer, with the pauses for going into the store, paying and all that....

ok 7

Due to some logistical and technical issues, I will most likely, almost definitely, not be able to get in any long runs over the next couple of weeks. To combat this, I am going to try to get more regular runs in.

Today I went out thinking I was about to have a good run. Yesterday was slow, I was feeling good, weather was good. I started running and just felt blah. A little twinge in my knee, which was coming and going, legs felt tired, and just felt uncomfortable. And then Endomondo got the first kilometer tracked way off again.

Anyways, as I was pushing through 4km or so, I figured I'll just push myself to 5 and then stop. But I sort of just settled in and was feeling ok then and kept going. I decided I'll hit 6 and stop. As I was approaching my house I saw I was pretty close to 7, so just continued until 7 and stopped. It was probably closer to 7.6km or so, but it was 7km logged.

slow but steady 9

I wasnt planning to run 9km, but I did. I thought maybe 6, or I would push to 7...definitely after I started and saw how slow I would be, I was not thinking about more than 6 or 7, possibly 5.

But as I ran, I felt good and strong, just tired legs from yesterday's fast run, so I just kept going. I might have gone a little further but a work call near the end put an end to my run and I walked home while talking finishing the 9. Truthfully it might have been more than that as Endomondo was off again by a nice amount today - had I still been running I might have gone a few hundred more meters to say I ran 10... but we'll call it 9

great 10

10km at a very good pace. Each and every kilometer was at a fast pace, except for the uphill kilometers...

good 8

Got in a good 8km this morning. Ran after the kids went to school so it had already warmed up a bit. Was very nice. I was going to stop at 5 then pushed myself to continue and finished at 8km. Decent pace and felt good

slow 6

6+km recovery run tonight. very slow. everything uncomfortable. but got it in

good 5

I didnt get to run this morning because of a heavy downpour, and not marathon training means I dont need to go out to run when I dont like the weather (or for any other reason)...and later I had a bris to attend, combined with Shabbos preparations..

Just now before Shabbos I found the time to sneak in a decent 5km run... Felt good, and I didnt try to run hard becuse I am still a little sore and stiff from Wednesday's long run so a decent paced run was a bit of a surprise... I was a little surprised to see so many people out running/walking/biking so close to Shabbos..

awesome 33

33km today! and I felt good the entire way. The last few km I slowed down significantly, but still felt good, unlike in other long runs recently when the last few km were really a struggle.

I started with a Kishon cycle, then I went up Hayarqon, Hayarden, down through Mishkafayim and out on Road 10. I ran to the end, to the 375 junction, then back all the way to the Bet Shemesh INdustrial Zone, then turned around and ran back to the end again. Then back to RBS, up the hill, out a bit more on Hayarden, then back down the hill and across Kishon again and finished with a loop on the bridge to RBS C (aka Gimmel).

While on the uphill (not steep) return on the 10 from Bet Shemesh to RBS, the running club stumbled across me, and blew by me. It was nice seeing them and running with them for a few minutes. One of the guys hung back for a bit and ran with me and we chatted - I was able to run faster when I was running with him even though before that i was slowly making my way up the long uphill. When we got to the steep part I told him I was going to slow down a bit and he should go back to the group.

I normally run alone and listen to podcasts. On a long run it is difficult to focus all the time when running alone on pushing myself, and running with someone else really makes a difference.

good 10-11

This morning I had a good 10-11km run. Again Endomondo tracked it wrong. I stopped when Endomondo said 10km, but it was really about 11km (give or take a tiny bit in either direction). Because the tracking was off, the tracked pace was meaningless, so while it felt like a decent pace, and based on the total time it was probably a little bit faster than average, I really don't know what the pace was.

Good weather, nice run.

ok 6-7

Endomondo was off again, so I dont know my actual distance, nor my pace. I do know that Endomondo tracked me at Just over 6km, but it was surely closer to 7. I dont think I hit 7, but it would have been pretty close. My pace was a little slower than the past couple of runs, but not a lot, so I really dont know the pace at all.

Overall it was a decent run, probably about average pace. Everything felt normal for a Saturday night run, including some discomfort from overeating a bit on Shabbos.. nothing too exciting..

great 14

I went out a little late, after prepping for Shabbos, at about 11am, for my run.

I didn't have a target distance in mind, but I wanted to run more than 10 and had no expectation of anything close to 20. Anything in between 10 and 20 would have been fine, and it would all depend on how the run was going.

After the first couple of kilometers I found myself running at an extremely fast pace (for me), and I still felt great. I was curious if I could keep it. With some uphill looming, I did not know how much I would slow down and then be able to recover the speed after, so I just kept going as well as I could . Posture, posture, posture. I watched myself very carefully and I think that this was making the run better, and even on the uphill, while slowing down a bit I still felt great and picked up my speed again at the top and was running at a good pace. When I hit the 7km mark, heading down to Mishkafayim, I thought there'd be a chance to hit the 10km mark in under an hour - nowadays a rare accomplishment for me. I pushed hard, and at both the 8 and 9 km markers, it was still in sight. I ran the 10th km super hard and beat the hour target by a lot. I hit 10km at 0:59:21. After turning around at the end of the 10, the next 2.5 or so km would be uphill (some at just a slight incline and some at a steeper incline), I knew I would be running most of the way at a slower pace, so I just slowed down and ran the rest of the way at my more normal pace. Overall, I finished the 14km run at a pretty good pace, with the first 10km being really good.

Posture, posture, posture!

greatish 6.5

I had a pretty good run. felt good, great weather, strong, great pace (and at times I felt like I could have pushed harder)...nothing went wrong. Except that I stopped at 6.5km when I could have gone more.

It has been a pretty lousy running week (two weeks actually). I am in some sort of funk. It started with avoiding the cold and wet weather, and turned into some laziness and just lack of interest. I felt good today, but just was not interested in going further. I pushed myself to go as much as I did.

I am not sure what's going on, but I'll just try to ride it out...

Monday, December 10, 2018

ok 5

Being that I am not training for a marathon, I did not feel any pressure to go running during the few days we had of very cold and rainy weather, so I didn't.

I just went out now for a nice afternoon run. Was feeling a little rusty and had some minor annoying sensations in various places. I am going to change my shoes and put my orthotics back in for the next few runs and see if that makes a difference...

Wednesday, December 5, 2018

fabulous 33

This morning I ran 33km. I changed my route a little bit - I started off going up Hayarqon, Hayarden, a circuit around Dolev..then I ran down through Mishkafayim, out on the 10, 375 out to Tzomet Aderet, back to RBS, some extensions here and there, then across Kishon a few times.

I had a harder time today focusing on posture, but when I caught myself and remembered I tried to run with better posture. It seems to be paying off as my knees were fine and overall I felt fine. The last 4 or 5 km were particularly slow, but overall it was a good run.

Monday, December 3, 2018

good 10

After a couple days of not running, this morning I gave into my laziness and didn't go out for my run but stayed in bed a little longer.. but after getting the kids out to school I decided to start my work day with a run.

Got in a good 10km at a good pace. Everything felt good. I am trying to work on improving my posture while running, and it requires paying attention and making adjustments, and I keep catching myself slipping on that..

disappointing 27

you cant really be disappointed by a 27km run, but it was slightly disappointing. I was hoping for a 30-31km run.

I woke up early and everything went well. Was feeling good and running fine. After two cycles across Kishon I went out to the 10, 375 out to Aderet Junction and back, and then more on Kishon.

The run was going well, and Endomondo tracking seemed to be fine today. The last 4 or 5km I started to slow down significantly and specifically my left knee was feeling tight. At 27 I stopped for a drink and was determined to finish up with another 3km, but when I tried to start running it was just too difficult. I could have struggled through it but did not see the point just to hit the number. 27 is also good.

lousy 6.5

This morning was just lousy. I planned for  along run. Was hoping to break 30km, maybe 32, but keeping it under 35.

First I woke up a little later than planned, after waking up early and then going back to bed. Then I went out and after the first couple of kilometers, nothing felt right. It was just going poorly. Maybe I will try again tomorrow.

Also, for the past week and a half, Endomondo has been measuring my distances differently each run. I can really only tell by the first kilometer marker. Once that is off, I no longer know where the next markers will be, but I can also tell by the pace it thought I ran that long km. When it is measuring the km significantly too long, obviously the pace is much "slower", so I know when it tells me the pace if the kilometer marker was more or less right or wrong, though I dont know by how much and even just estimating the pace is not accurate, but it gives me an idea. I dont know why this is suddenly happening, but I might switch apps because of it.

stiff 5

The air was so chilly this morning that my body felt stiff and never really warmed up. That's why I stopped at 5km, even though it was a decent run...

Saturday, November 24, 2018

slow 10

Had a nice recovery run. Overall felt good, but ran slow and couldnt run faster eve had I wanted to.

The first 4.5km I ran with my son. Afer that he cut out and went home and I continued on. I thought I would continue on just to hit 6 or 7km, but went all the way out for 10..

easy 17.5

There is nothing easy about running 17.5 kilometers, but in the title I meant I took it easy and ran an easy paced 17.5km. And it was very nice, no struggle and I ran steadily the entire ay.

What was great about this run is that I planned to go out for 5 or 6 km, sort of a recovery run as I had been very sore yesterday. I started my run at an easy pace and everything felt good, so I kept going. Even after finishing 17.5 I didnt feel like I had had enough and needed to stop. I could have kept going.

I actually woke up early to run but it was raining. Since I am not training for a marathon and am not on a tight training schedule, I decided to skip it. I eventually stopped raining so after I finished doing some stuff for Shabbos preparations I decided to go out. I ended up being out much longer than expected and I enjoyed it the entire time

Wednesday, November 21, 2018

painful 26

I didnt know how much I would run. I wanted a long run but had no intention of going over 30km, and was hoping for at least 28, but minimum wanted 24, 25km.

I ended with 26km but the last few km were painful. Some bad chafing, and my speed got really slow. No real pain, so that is good. Just body wasn't up to it today./ I am more sore now post-run than I was after both my recent long runs of 30 and 35km...

Monday, November 19, 2018

tough 11

I went out for a mid-day run, in the warm weather. It was a bit warmer than I had expected, and my legs still felt sore and heavier than I had expected. After the first couple of kilometers I dropped any expectations of pace and quality, but I was still hoping to hit 10km. I pushed through and struggled a bit but I was approaching my 10km target. Just as I was finishing my last few meters, struggling and happy to be finished, a friend ran by me. I hadn't seen him in a bit and wanted to say hi so I ran hard to catch up with him and chat while running a bit. I ended up getting an extra kilometer because of it, and it was also probably my fastest kilometer of the run, not including the first two that were at a fast pace.

Sunday, November 18, 2018

decent 7

not the greatest run but I squeezed out 7km at a decent pace on tired legs...

rusty 6.5

To combat some growing aches and pains, after a significant increase in mileage in a short span of time, I decided to take a week off of running. In the middle of the week I almost broke my rest period because I was feeling good, but I forced myself to finish the week. And I know I missed a week of great running weather, but still, I think my body needed the rest.

Tonight I went out to run and it was a bit slower than expected, but it was after a nice Shabbos of overeating - I felt a bit heavy and sluggish, but I am happy I finally got out and back on the road. I hope this will be a good week. I wont be looking to increase mileage again, but I do expect to get in some good runs including a long run.

weak 5

This morning's run was weak and barely noticeable.

I had a fantasy of running 15 or 20, but I knew my legs were not up to it. I was too tired to run early, so I went out after the kids went to school. I figured I would hope for 15 or 20 if everything worked out right but if not I was hopeful for at leats 10 or 12. But I had no energy. Besides for the soreness still in my legs and the tweak in me knee making me wonder if it would be ok or not, I just had no energy. I was running ok, just weakly and very slow. I was probably not much faster than a brisk walk. So, I decided to cut it at 5km and chalk it up to a low end recovery run

Wednesday, November 7, 2018

35

ow. 35km. it was going really well, until the last 5 or so kilometers. Then I started to struggle and slowed down significantly. Also, I did the same route, more or less, as last time - cycles across Kishon with extensions up part of Hayarqon and on the first section of the bridge to Gimmel. At the end I decided to do one set up Hayarqon and Hayarden and then back. Up that hill at the end was a bad idea, as it really slowed me down a lot and also near the top of the hill I felt a little tweak in me knee. It went away after a bit but it hampered me for a while.

Overall it went well, and I am happy I hit 35km. I think next week I will cut my mileage a bit.

Monday, November 5, 2018

really good 11

I planned on running yesterday but really was not feeling well so I just skipped it. This morning I went out and ran a really good 11km at a good pace and had a strong run, feeling great the entire time.

After last night's rains the air was cool and clean, the ground a bit muddy and slick and the views colorful. It was a beautiful morning for a good run

Saturday, November 3, 2018

weak 10

Friday was a decent run instead of a recovery run, so I was bound to have a bad run coming up. Tonight it happened.

I felt weak and my joints hurt a bit and I was slow. Add to that discomfort after Shabbos, perhaps from eating too much, along with the need for a pit stop in the middle.. the sucks just werent lined up tonight. But I still pushed myself to keep going and I pushed it up to 10 slow kilometers. I thought of going to 12 or 13 but then decided 10 is enough and I would like to get  a better run tomorrow.

Friday, November 2, 2018

good 12

had a good 12+km run this morning. The pace was decent, and while a bit sore form Wednesday's long run, it wasn't too bad.

Wednesday, October 31, 2018

awesome 31km

I just had a great 31km run. I started at about 4:30am, actually just a bit after, and just kept running. I felt great. My pace was good. At no point did I feel like I wanted to stop. The weather was good.

The one snafu was that at 4:30am it was too dark for my sunglasses, but I knew that at about 5:45 or so I would need them. So I hid my sunglasses with my water in a bush at a point I would pass a number of times. I changed my glasses when I changed my glasses and all was good. At some later point when I stopped for water I saw my glasses case was missing! Someone took my glasses out of the bush! I looked around to see if maybe I had placed them a but further over by mistake or if someone had stopped to look at them and then put them down in the wrong place, but I could not find them anywhere.

Besides for that, I had a great run. I ran acoss Kishon a number of times, interspersed with extensions up part of Hayarkon and a number of circuits around the first part of the bridge to RBS C.

Monday, October 29, 2018

good 8

I went out for a short run and ran 8km. I probably won't run tomorrow, in anticipation of a good long run on Wednesday. It is a bit of a shame. With election day on Tuesday, it is officially a day off of work,. As a self-employed freelancer, there is no such thing as a true day off of work, but the time pressure will be much less and it would be a good day for a run.

Sunday, October 28, 2018

good 10

Today was pretty good. Because we changed the clock back last night off DST, i was able to get an extra hour of sleep and still get up at my regular time for an early morning 10km run in the nice sunlight.

The run itself was pretty good - significantly better than the past 2 runs. The weather was sunny and bright but still cool. Not many runners or walkers out while I was out, though there were some. Perhaps there are less on Sunday morning because Saturday night seems to be a popular time - not sure.

Anyways, good run, good start to the day

Saturday, October 27, 2018

recovery 7

this run felt better than Friday's run, but was still a bit slower than I like. I got 7 and could have kept going, but instead am looking for a better run, hopefully, tomorrow morning.

Friday, October 26, 2018

recovery 8.5

I did not know what I was going to be able to run this morning, so I went out with no plan. I had no idea how much I'd be able to run, after a tiring week and after Wednesday's long run.I kind of fantasized about scraping out between 15 - 20km, but I knew that was unlikely. My second fantasy was 12-13km, which I thought would be more realistic even if I was still sore and worn out.

It turns out neither my a or b fantasies came to be. I think I could have kept going, but I bailed at 8.5km. I was so worn out and running so slow I just saw no point in continuing, and I had a busy day scheduled so I thought getting to that would be more productive. I kind of feel bad I gave in to my lazy brain talking me into bailing, but 8.5km is a decent run, even though it was very slow.

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

long 27

27km at a decent pace. good long run. felt great until nearly the end when I started to feel a bit worn out.

I did a crazy route. I ran up and down Kishon, repeatedly. That would be 6+ cycles across Kishon. It wasn't so bad, but by the 6th cycle I really wanted to see something different, but by then I really did not want the hills changing route would have brought

Sunday, October 21, 2018

tough 11

I woke up this morning planning to run. As a matter of fact, I woke up a little earlier than usual to try to watch some of the Brewers Dodgers final game while I got ready to run. When I got up I was not really feeling like running, and after I watched enough of the game to satisfy me, I was still not feeling like running. So I didn't.

Later, with some time on my hands, I decided I was feeling like running. So I did.

I went out hoping for a 10km, but after just a little bit of running my joints started to feel sore and my body felt a little tired. When I was at about the 4km mark I thought of stopping at 5 or 6 kilometers, but the whole thing felt weird. On the one hand I overall felt good and strong, while on the other hand my joints were feeling a little weak and a bit tired on the uphills. I stopped thinking about it and just kept going. I went out down to the 10 and ran to the end and then back. That brought me home at 11km. My pace was decently average, which is better than I had expected.

Saturday, October 20, 2018

good 10

got a nice 10km run in tonight right after Shabbos. Felt good.

So far, yeah small sample size, switching long run to Wednesday has worked out nicely

Friday, October 19, 2018

good 10

I got in a good 10km run this morning. I felt strong and could have kept going but I got a late start and decided 10 was enough time-wise. It was a bit humid, and it seems like rain is on the way

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

long run 22

I changed things up and decided to do my long run today rather than Friday.

Thins felt far better than I expected. For today it so far worked out well. I ran 22km at a good pace. I ran across Kishon and then out to do a backwards Lamed Hei loop, starting from the 38, then 375m then 10 then back home. I did that to avoid the steep hills, even though it is still a very uphill run, just a far lower gradient.

I actually thought, calculated, the run to get me closer to 24km, but it ended at just over 22. I feel good, so I might still get in  a decent run on Friday as well, but as of now I am only going to shoot for a 10-12km run then..

Monday, October 15, 2018

great 11

I haven't done this in a while. I did not run this morning and was kind of feeling bad about missing it, even though I didn't really miss a run but it was a run I could have done, just had decided not to. I was busy during the day so I did not get to make it up with a mid-day run, but an opportunity presented itself at the end of the work day, so i decided I would go out for a nice run. I have not run in the evenings, at the end of a work day, not including Motzei Shabbos, in a long time. It was pretty nice - good weather, good air, a bit darker than a like because of the twilight...

I ran 11km at a decent pace and felt good doing it

Sunday, October 14, 2018

good 9

a mid-day 9km run (8.5km tracked due to a crazy endomondo error again tracking the first kilometer incorrectly) felt good. The hotter weather of the later run means a sweatier run, even though it wasn't blazing hot like it was just a month or two ago at the same time.

Saturday, October 13, 2018

slow 6

I felt pretty good, strength-wise, but I was feeling heavy, probably from too much blackberry pie on Shabbos...I kept the run slow and stopped at over 6km...

Friday, October 12, 2018

ok 15

I had planned for a long run, but getting back late last night form a wedding in another city sort of derailed that.I woke up tired and delayed, then went back to sleep for a bit then woke up again and delayed some more.. it seemed like I was looking for excuses not to go out. Eventually I went out and decided I'll just try for 10 or so and see how much more I can do.

Once out there it was not so bad, though the tracking was off a little bit. I found myself doing ok , though parts of the run were more of a struggle, especially the uphills. I trudged along, and even stretched out the run to get a little more and a little more and a little more until I finished at a tracked 15km (though the real distance was probably close to 16km).

So, not great, but not bad. Overall pretty decent distance with a slow but not horrible pace

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

great 10

Today's run was 10km at a very good pace - not as fast as yesterday, but still a fast pace. I felt good all along.

This time of year is really the best for running. The air is great, the temps are perfect, everything is so pleasant and the way it should be.

Now, I have to knock it in to my brain - I WILL NOT RUN TOMORROW! I WILL NOT RUN TOMORROW!

Tuesday, October 9, 2018

great 6

This morning's run was great. As I started, from the first step, I felt strong and fast, and noticed it immediately. I decided right then I would try for a fast run. After a couple of hundred meters I decided I would turn it into a speed workout, running intervals. So, I ran a short speed workout, finishing at 6+km.

Even the slow parts of my intervals were fast, and I finished my 6km at a very fast pace (for me), and I felt good the entire time. I tried to plan my slow sections to be on the slower parts of the course, though even the slow parts were faster than usual.

All in all a great fast short run

Sunday, October 7, 2018

good 6

had a good 6km run this morning at a fast pace, and it felt like I was running a bit slower than average! The tracking was correct, and whenever this happens it makes me wonder how it messed up yesterday's tracking by so much..

Saturday, October 6, 2018

good 8

After a week off of running, I had a good 8km run tonight. I felt good and strong. The run was really 8.5km but the tracking was wrong and Endomondo only marked the first kilometer at about the 1.5 mark. The rest of the time it seemed ok, adjusted for the new distance but more or less at the right amount of time and distance.

Lots of runners and walkers out enjoying the cool night air.

Friday, September 28, 2018

disappointing 6

After a great week of running I thought I would, and expected to, cap it off today with a good long run. Unfortunately I got out there and felt lousy. Everything felt off and I was just trudging along. I am sure I could have forced myself to make it to 10 or 11km, but I knew I couldnt force a 25 or even 20km run feeling like this.

I am pretty sure that I felt like this because of overrunning yesterday with a very fast run. I should have stuck to the plan, which was either no run for a very slow short run, but I felt so good the entire week with faster than expected runs I just got carried away in the moment. I have to remember to stick to the plan, even with some flexibility, but more or less stick to it. the plan is there for a reason

Thursday, September 27, 2018

fast 6

My fast week continues, unexpectedly, with an even faster run this morning. At the first kilometer marker I saw I was running faster than I had assumed, so I paid attention to see if I could keep it going. It was almost effortless, and my pace stayed the same or slightly faster throughout.

I finished at 6km, running the fastest pace I can recall in years. This was despite a late night due to the Bet Shemesh Festival and an early morning. I was not even planning to run. It just worked out because I was awake anyway.

Wednesday, September 26, 2018

great 10

A good fast 10km run this morning. It seems this week of running is one of the fastest i remember, overall, in a long time. Each run seems to be good and I am not feeling tired on the runs. Good speed, good stamina and good energy.

Tuesday, September 25, 2018

great 5

As of last night, I was planning on going for a shortish run this morning. I wasn't sold 100% on it, as I thought I would need a break for a good run on Wednesday, but I was leaning to running. But then I went to sleep very late and just could not get up early enough to run. Fortunately, being Chol Hamoed means it is a quiet, relaxed, day with not much scheduled. So I decided I had nothing urgent to do anyway so i went out for a short run.

I thought it would be a slow run, after running last night, but I surprisingly ran very fast. Much faster than my norm. I kept it to 5km, even though I felt fine and felt like I could have gone further.

good 8

8km run this evening after the holiday. It was better than I expected. A good, slow-ish, run. Nothing fancy, but felt good despite overeating and despite a longer run yesterday

great 11

I wore my new shoes again, without orthotics, even though I was planning a slightly longer run. I was expecting in the 7-8km range, dependent on feel after Friday and Saturday night runs, so I figured the slightly longer distance would also be a good test..

I was feeling really good and my first couple of kilometers were fast, so I decided instead of running up Hayarden and then back, I would run out on the 10 to the 375 and back. Doing that was a bit aggressive as it would mean a minimum of 10km, unless I would turn early, which would only happen if I was suddenly feeling really bad.

I kept going and kept feeling really good. I was still running pretty fast and even passed a couple of other runners I had set my sights on when they were ahead of me.

I finished with a good, fast, 11km.

These new shoes, On Cloud Running, felt pretty good. Paying attention to the feel is easier without orthotics. The sensation is definitely different. The unusual sole of the shoe really absorbs, or dulls, a lot of the impact and feels kind of spongy and soft

good 5

I ran tonight in my new running shoes and tried it without my orthotics. It felt fine. Will continue testing, generally on short runs, to see how different things feel.

Due to being short on time, I kept the run to 5km, even though I would have liked to get in 7 and felt fine. Instead I'll count on tomorrow morning's run to get in the additional distance I was hoping for.

great 19

I did not know how much I was going to run today, but I did know it would be less than last week's 23km. I figured, after Yom Kippur, realistically a good run would be in the range of 15km, but I left it open with no plan leavcing it dependant on how I would feel on the road.

I started my regular route across Kishon, then up Hayarqon and Hayarden. I then did two loops around Dolev and back down Hayarden to the Hayarden Hayarqon traffic circle to pick up water I had left there. I turned and ran back to Refaim and then turned down to Mishkapafayim via the new road. I ran through Mishkafayim and out to Road 10 until 375 and then back. On the way in I ran back up to RBS and then went down the road behind the new buildings on Hayarqon, just above the new park that is still closed off. Popping back up at the end of that area, I ran down to the Merkaz of RBS and then back home, finishing at a bit over 19km. And I felt great the entire way.

ok 5

The run after a fast day is never fast. It usually isn't eve good.

Today's run was ok. I felt good, even though my legs felt tired. The first 2km were faster than I expected. They were even faster than I thought I was running. But then I slowed down a lot. I still felt good, but my legs really felt tired. I thought about maybe going 7 slow km, but stopped at 5 when I felt my legs really begin to feel tired, so as not to hurt my chances on tomorrow's run..

Tuesday, September 18, 2018

great 10

had a great 10km run. I tried to do intervals, but without real tracking, nd I was listening to the Cubs game, I could only do the intervals by feel - meaning, I did each speed interval for as long and as fast as I could push my legs, and my slower in between sections were also based on the uphills and for as long as I felt my legs needed to recover, so the intervals were there but not even or paced. Anyways, I finished the 10km at a good pace and felt strong the entire way

better 7

Still feeling sore, I thought about another recovery run this morning. After going to sleep late, I didnt want to run early this morning. A mid-day break allowed me some running time in the heat.

So, I had a nice slow run. It was slow both because of my soreness and because of the heat. It was actually a little faster than last night's run but a work phone call in the middle made me stop running and it messed up the time tracking of the run but the reality of the run was slow but slightly faster than last night, and I went farther distance. I finished the run at 7km.

recovery 5

with my legs still very sore from Friday I expected a really lousy recovery run. It turns out I had a short and slow recovery run, but it wasn't lousy. Even with sore legs I felt strong and ran well, albeit slow. I was feeling sore but good.

beautiful 23km

I wanted a long run today but did not know how I would feel... turns out I felt great.

I ran out across Kishon then up to Dolev Dolev. I decided to do a Dolev loop, and then headed out to Tzomet Aderet. I actually did not know how far out on the 375 I would run, but I was running well and figured the more extended now, the less I would have to extend later when tired, so I kept adding bits until I found myself at Tzomet Aderet..

From about 17km I really started to feel worn out and the run got difficult. That was also where it became mostly an uphill incline - sometimes steep and sometimes slight, but still uphill. I made it all the way, but really slowed down a lot at that point. In the end I finished with a slightly slower than average 23km on a beautiful morning and a beautiful route.

tired 5

I shouldnt have run today and didnt want to, but being up early I just did it. I had planned a medium length run, but then realized that being Thursday, a medium run would mess up my Friday schedule. So I scrapped it and went for a short run. The holiday messed with my schedule and mind, but that's alright.

I was tired, and worn out and just trudged along. I ran a little more than 5km and then stopped. My energy level is a little low right now. Hopefully it will pick up soon.

post holiday 6

After 2 days of Rosh Hashana holiday with a lot of sitting in shul, a lot of praying, a lot of eating, a lot of sitting around, I finally got to get out and stretch my legs tonight after the holiday finished. I started the new year of running with a slow and steady 6.25km run. I was feeling heavy and lethargic, so I had no expectations from the run but to get out and stretch my legs and get my blood flowing a bit.

Every run is different, and changing one thing does not usually tell you much. I took advantage of planning a short and slow run to also start breaking in a new pair of shoes. I am always willing to try new things and I came across Swiss shoes called On Cloud that seemed like good shoes and I decided t give them a try, knowing that my shoes are nearing the end of their kilometers lifespan, after a long summer of a lot of running. They felt mostly fine, and for now I will alternate between them and my Altra Provision shoes, which I love. Hopefully these will be durable and last me a while.

last 5

Last 5km of the year. Nice and easy. Squeezed it out after almost skipping it and going back to bed.

recovery 10

Tonight was definitely going to be no better than a classic recovery run. I was sore and tight from Friday and recovery run it would be. On the other hand, with Rosh Hashana approaching, this week is going to have less runs than normal. So, I decided despite being a recovery run, I would try to get more mileage than usual for a Saturday night run, if my legs would stand up for it.

It was sore, tight and difficult, but I got the 10km in, at recovery pace.

awesome 20

I was kind of tired and thought I'd go out for a maybe 8km run, maximum 10. I even started my route with that in mind, crossing Kishon. My plan was then to go up Hayarqon, Hayarden and maybe a loop around dolev before heading home, if not only part of that.

When I got up to the corner of Hayarqon and Hayarden, I decided to head out on the 10 and then back. Running out, I decided to turn and go out on the 375 before heading back. While out there I decided to keep goig out until Netiv HaLamed Hei before turning. Then on the way back in, I decided to do a loop through Mishkafayim, While in Mishkafayim, I decided to run to the end and then up the road to the corner of Hayarden and Dolev. And from there I ran home finishing at 20km. The run was a little on the slow side, which is fine, but I am happy I was able to go much father than I had planned or expected.

Another awesome 9

Another run in tel aviv. This time I went further into the city, just so I could see more of the city streets, planning to finish up turning west and running along the beach. I lost my bearings a couple of times but that allowed me to see even more of the beautiful city than planned. Eventually I made my way westward and got to the beach and ran north along the boardwalk. I stopped at one point for a dip in the sea before finishing my run and heading back. I finished with 9km in my logs.

Awesome 9

I went running this morning in tel aviv. I started running along the streets of Tel Aviv, checking out the sights on the early morning roads, and quickly found my way over to the boardwalk along the Mediterranean Sea. I ran south on the boardwalk and eventually turned around and ran north. At some point I took a break and jumped in for a swim. After a bit I showered and dressed and went back to running to where I needed to be, finishing at a bit over 9km. A few runners and walkers were out on the streets, but there were a lot of runners and walkers out on the boardwalk

wiped out 7

This morning I was tired after a late affair last night. I was resigned to not running today, but then in the middle of the day my calendar cleared for a bit.

I like running in the heat so I figured I would try for a decent distance run despite the heat. It was a good strong run until the uphill section when the incline plus the heat got to me and wiped me out. I decided to cut down my ambition and finished the run at 7 at a decent pace - with the first 4km strong and fast averaging out with the last 2km being slow... Endomondo behaved today and tracked me with the distance markers that i am familiar with and the pace seemed right as well..

Saturday, September 1, 2018

pretty good 8.5

I went out for a run and had a pretty good one. Endomondo is still making me crazy. suddenly both the distances and probably the pace are wrong, or not what I am used to. It is marking the kilometers at different points, significantly different, so I am not sure if this is right and all along it has been wrong or if now it is wrong. ANd that affects the pace trackiong. I thought I had a good strong, not fast but strong and probably average or slightly better than average pace but it tracked me at a slow pace. Maybe I just need a real GPS running watch to know that it is being tracked properly.

Friday, August 31, 2018

weak 7

I wasn't feeling well last night so I went to sleep early and planned just a short run, if I would run at all. I woke up and forced myself to go out for a run. I messed up my Endomondo tracking in the middle by accidentally stopping it, but restarted it right away so I know more or less that I ran a total of about 7km. My speed felt normal and average but tracked it was very slow, so I am not sure what is going on.

Wednesday, August 29, 2018

good 10

good strong 10km. slower than expected and slower than it felt. it seems like the past weeks worth of runs have all been a bit slower than in the past...

stiff 5

This morning's run (delayed post, sorry) was stiff and slow. I was not even going to go out for the run, as I already felt how it would turn out as soon as I got out of bed, but I was up and finished with my morning routine with plenty of time so I figured I would go out anyway.

5km in the morning is a great way to start the day, even if the run is stiff and unwieldy..

Saturday, August 25, 2018

pretty good 8.6

nice weather, a bit cooler but still humid and I had a pretty good 8.6km run. I was a little surprised that my pace was as slow as it was as I felt strong and the run felt to be faster, and I wasnt really recovering from anything, but that is ok. a good run is a good run, whatever the pace might be.

Friday, August 24, 2018

disappointing 8

Today's run was difficult and disappointing. I was planning for a long run, though planned for it to be less than 20km - expecting in the 17-18km range. From the first step I knew that wouldn't happen, so I cut my expectations down to around 12km and mentally adjusted my route for a shorter run. I was struggling so much, basically just shuffling through it, that I cut it at 8, and 8km was after I forced myself to continue just a bit more. Besides for feeling tired and heavy, I was running hard (at least I thought I was, during the first couple of kilometers) and still going at a crazy slow pace...

Thursday, August 23, 2018

recovering 6

I wasnt planning on running today, but I woke up early and after I went through my morning routine I figured I am up anyway and dont really have anything else important to do and have the time so I might as well. So I did. Though I went out assuming my run would be short and slow. And it was.

I ran 6km at a slow but decent pace. I basically felt good, if a bit tired. I saw a friend our for a walk who just got out of heart surgery, so I stopped for a minute to chat with him before finishing my run. Uneventful run, but the humidity has been getting worse (by the "feel test")..

Wednesday, August 22, 2018

strong 10

I got in a good 10km run this morning. Decent pace, strong run. Humid weather but not hot.

Endomondo tracked me the whole way, as I expected it would with a new phone and new Endomondo installation.

Monday, August 20, 2018

strong 10

This morning's 10km run was much better than the past 2 runs. Everything felt better and more in sync. A large part of it might have been the plumbing getting unclogged. Endomondo crashed at 7.5km, so I dont have full stats, but that 7.5km included whatever hills are on the route and that was at a pretty good pace, so including the last 2.5 of mostly downhill running, I would have finished with great stats.

Everything felt good. Wetaher wasn't too hot, but actually pleasant. When I went out it felt like the run would be good - my legs felt like tight springs, so they were bursting with energy. It seemed like fewer runners and walkers out than usual, but I did cross paths with Tzvi...

Sunday, August 19, 2018

hot 5

I woke up this morning but didnt feel a need to run and decided I should probably rest my legs, considering how I felt during last night's run. As the day went on, I decided that should I get the opportunity mid-afternoon to run, as it looked I would, I would. So I did.

Had a pretty average run. Felt pretty good, though my breathing was still off. The heat was a little more difficult than I expected, so I stopped after a little over 5km rather than continuing...

Saturday, August 18, 2018

slow 5

I was planning/expecting to run 7-8km tonight but when I went out I just was not feeling right. I was not in sync, my breathing was heavy, my legs were sore and heavy and I just was not feeling it, so I cut it at a slightly slower than average paced 5km run.

Friday, August 17, 2018

untracked 20

I estimate having run 20km this morning. My Endomondo crashed a bit after 6km, and I noticed when I was already near the 10km marker, so I didnt bother restarting it. I did the RBS-Lamed Hei loop, being about 18.5-19km, and then a little extension at the end in RBS.

I ran pretty well, feeling strong the entire way until nearly the end/ I even felt strong going up the Zechariya hill, without needing to take a break at all. It was nice as a friend passed me at the beginning of the hill, but then in the middle I passed him as he took a break - on the other side he caught up to me again and we ran together for a couple of kilometers until we split off into different directions. But then going up the Tzeelim hill I suddenly felt weaker and struggled a bit near the end of it.

Overall, a very good, untracked, run

moody 10

I wasnt going to run today. I had a late night last and was tired. I woke up early but decided I was better off not running. I thought there might be a chance for a mid-day run, but was not booking on it. It turned out I was too busy and unable to get that in, so I figured a short run tomorrow, and then maybe a long Friday run. As the afternoon went on, I was trying to think how I could squeeze a run in, but kept getting the schedule frustrated between eating dinner and running and kids, I did not see how it would work.

Then the kids frustrated me and I decided I was going to go for a run and not make dinner. And I had a great run. I ran fast and finished 10km in under an hour! This is the fastest I have run in a long time. I ran hard but I wasn't really straining myself. I guess being in a mood is good for a good run.

Tuesday, August 14, 2018

good 6

I thought today would be short and slow, but it went better than expected, even without trying hard.

Endomondo crashed again, this time just after 5km. I ran 6km, at a pretty good pace. Just a couple seconds off of the pace I ran yesterday. I noticed when I checked my distance after turning. I did my calculation as to where I should turn to finish the run at 6km and then saw that Endomondo had crashed a couple of minutes earlier. So I did not lose more than a bit, unlike other runs where I only noticed after a few kilometers.

Monday, August 13, 2018

gr8 run

After a few days off of running, I went out today and got an 8km run. I felt pretty good and my pace was pretty good too. It was humid but not too hot, and I had a lot of energy to burn.

Thursday, August 9, 2018

not bad 6.5

went out for a run, planning/expecting a short and slow run, and that's what I got. 6.5km at a nice slow pace

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

better 7

yesterday I woke up early to run and then decided not to. I decided to not tr for a run streak. My body felt like it needed a day off. I was just tired. Maybe the heat is part of it. After the weird run on Monday, I just felt like I needed a day off.

Fine, no problem. I was tempted later in the day to go out for a run, as I was feeling fine, but forced myself not to.

This morning I woke up and almost decided to take another day off. That would have been laziness though, not a calculated decision. It is so easy to get into a pattern of laziness - you take one or two days off, and boom, you have a bad pattern that it is hard to get out of. It is so easy to convince yourself that you need to rest or you are too tired or it is too hot or whatever. There are no shortage of excuses. After just one day I found myself making excuses. I nipped it in the bud, but if had I not, I can imagine how each day it gets harder to break that pattern.

So I eventually went out to run. I got a nice 7km run. While I still had some soreness, I felt good overall and ran a faster pace than I had expected. Very humid today.

Monday, August 6, 2018

strange 5

very strange run. I can't think of having experienced anything similar, at least not in a very long time..

I got up extra early to run today, as I needed to be out on a bus to work early today. OK, no problem. Run started out well, as well as any day. A good pace - not particularly fast but on the faster side of average, felt strong, so far so good. In my fourth kilometer I suddenly noticed my legs feeling weak and tired and that I was slowing down, ok. I had been thinking of going to 6km, but with my slowing down and feeling tired I decided I'll just keep it to 5. After hitting the 4 mark and entering the 5th kilometer my legs felt even more tired out and almost rubbery. I could not even run any more. I walked the last 250 or meters to finish the 5km. very strange.

Saturday, August 4, 2018

solid 6

good solid recovery run tonight. not fast, a bit slow, but solid. Felt good, if a bit sore, but overall good.

Friday, August 3, 2018

tough 14

Todays run was more difficult than anticipated. The air was thick and humid, in addition to having sore muscles. It made the run cumbersome and a burden. I scratched out about 14km and it was not great. There were spots I stopped for a few moments to relax and catch my breath and even walked a few steps at the end of a couple of mild uphills.

My Endomondo tracking app crashed again. When I noticed I had already missed a few kilometers. I started it again, but I dont know exactly how much I ran - it was about 14, maybe slightly less, maybe slightly more. I dont think the problem is with the app. I think the problem is with my phone. I think it might be time to invest in a running watch.

Thursday, August 2, 2018

short and slow 5

Thursday is always short and slow day, in anticipation of a good, and hopefully long, run on Friday. So, today was short and slow. Just to stretch the legs, recover form the last few days of fast running.

Wetaher was weird. Slightly cooler but humid. Sky looked like rain is coming, though I didn't notice that rainy smell...

Wednesday, August 1, 2018

good 10.5

Had a really good 10.5km run today. Was going at a decent pace. When it was supposed to let me know abut the 8km marker, I didnt hear anything. Being that it was possible I was still a little short, I kept going. Also possible was that I missed the announcement, as I sometimes do. Eventually I took out my phone from the band to check and saw that at 7.69 Endomondo had crashed. So my estimate of 10.5km is just an estimate, but it is an educated estimate.

Tuesday, July 31, 2018

fast 5

I thought about not running today. Perhaps a streak isnt really "necessary", but maybe 1 day off, or 2, per week instead of 3-4 days off per week would also provide me the adequate number of running days for me. But then I ran. But I intended to keep it short, with the expectation for a 10-11km run on Wednesday. This would be a 5km stretch your legs type of run, probably relatively slow.

With little effort I found myself running much faster than I had expected to be able to. Approaching 5km I was still averaging less than 6 minutes per kilometer. Even though I could have gone 6 or 7, and had considered it, I couldn't do it at that pace - even if just because the next kilometer would have been all uphill. So, I decided to leave myself impressed with my pace and kill it at 5km so keep my run under the 30 minute mark! Artificial, but I ran my plan anyway and only altered a possible in game change of plan with no change of plan.

Monday, July 30, 2018

quick 7.5

had a pretty good run this morning. felt good and felt like a quick pace, but Endomondo measured everything wrong. I dont know what happened to it to mess it up. The first two kilometers were fine, but it only tagged kilometer #3 just a little before I was already near the 4 marker, and then tagged 5 when I was nearly at 6. Anyways, based on my route I know I ran 7.5km though I have no idea what my final average pace was, though it felt like a quicker than average run.

Sunday, July 29, 2018

really good 7km run this morning at a fast pace. It seems the more frequently I run the better I run. Jury is still out, with the sample size being too small at this point, but that's how it seems now

Saturday, July 28, 2018

good 8

not fast. not particularly slow. legs still felt a bit tired. but overall a good 8km run. the slow end of average pace for me, but not overly slow.

Friday, July 27, 2018

lousy 5

I had big plans for today but alas it was not to be.

I planned on running upwards of 20km, and got up bright and early to do so. Unfortunately I just wasn't feeling it. I had some general discomfort and just cuouldnt get into it. I bailed after 5km. It was probably a combination of a number of things, including humidity, a t weird sensation in my knee, general discomfort, a bit of tired legs, and maybe more. They are all good excuses, but I just felt like I was trudging along and was forcing myself to take each additional step.

Next one will be better. I hope

Wednesday, July 25, 2018

tired 10

This morning I ran 10km, though my Endomondo crashed after 5+km and didn't log the entire run, though I only noticed that at the end of the run. I know the distance anyway because of being familiar with the route.

While my pace (at least the pace at 5km when Endomondo crashed) was fine and average, it felt pretty slow and heavy. It was also hotter than usual, with a heat wave peaking today. Still, I think I run and feel better when I am running more frequently than 3-4 times a week. One of these days, probably Friday, I am going to start another run streak.

Monday, July 23, 2018

weak 7

This morning was a slow 7km run. I immediately felt, as soon as I started running, that it wouldn't be great. My body felt tired and a bit weak. Possibly from yesterday's fast day. I trudged along and made it to 7km. After momentarily thinking about extending it to 8 or 9, I decided to just be happy with 7.

Friday, July 20, 2018

great 18

I had a really good 18km run this morning. I went out not knowing how much I would be running. I wanted to definitely break 15 and probably 16, but I also had no intention of running 21, 22. Anywhere between those numbers was a realistic option.

I started off on my regular route running across Kishon, up Hayarqon and Hayarden. Then I went up to DOlev for a loop and then back to the Hayarden Hayarqon corner. From there I went down to the highway, turning slightly before Etziyona Junction and heading back. On the way back I made two minor detours just to ensure I would hit 18, and that was that. Lots of runners and walkers out today..

Wednesday, July 18, 2018

great 10

10km at a pretty good pace. happy to start the day with a great run. hot and humid. it seems mornings have gotten to be more humid than I remember..
started a little later than usual, so saw some more walkers, but missed my regular runners and walkers...

Tuesday, July 17, 2018

humid 8km

I seem to be more tired and less excited about running when I am only running 3 or 4 times per week than when I am running every day. strange. I also feel less fit, though that is ridiculous. And I seem much hungrier all of the sudden, especially for nosh.

Anyways, I ran 8km this morning in very humid conditions. I am sweating like a pig right now, which is good, but I took it mostly easy except for one portion in which I set a goal to catch up to a runner that was way ahead of me and I did, so that was a stretch of about half a kilometer or so...

Overall good run

Saturday, July 14, 2018

pleasant 8

8km recovery run. very pleasant. lots of people out. weather humid but not too bad

Friday, July 13, 2018

low level 13.5km

this was a week of low level running, low on distance and low on stress. The first half was completely bare because of a swollen knee, followed by a short run on Wednesday and a decent run today. My only goal for today was to break 10km, and I actually finished my run at 13.5km.

It was a good run. I started it on my usual route within RBS. I considered going out onto the highway but decided instead to run up to RBS C (aka Gimmel) and check out a nice new park with trails that has been constructed up there. It really is a nice park, albeit a little smaller than I expected. I had run up the bridge to Gimmel via Yona Ben Amitai street, and instead of running through Gimmel after the park and coming out on the other side, I decided to just go back down Yona Ben Amitai and across the bridge to finish the run.

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

testing 5

after a few days off to let my body rest and to let my knee heal, the knee was feeling much better with the swelling gone, though not 100%. I decided to go for a short run today, and it felt pretty good. I kept it to a 5km run. A bit humid, but overall the run and the body felt pretty good.

Sunday, July 8, 2018

run streak over?

My run streak might be over. It probably is. I went out to run and decided to cancel because of my knee still hurting. I dont know if I will try again later today, but I doubt it will improve enough to do so, even if I find the time later. It looks like I'll have to rest it for a couple of days before going out again.

Saturday, July 7, 2018

slow 8

slow recovery run. had some knee pain over shabbos, but I am pretty sure it was from the specific shoes I wre this Shabbos. whenever I wear that paid I seem to have knee and ankle pain, which is why I hardly ever wear them. I think I should just get rid of them.

Anyways, I took the run especially slow, because of some soreness, but especially because of the knee pain. No worries. I thought I would run 6km max, but ended up over 8km.

The run streak is nearing its end. In a couple of weeks we will commemorate Tisha bAv on Saturday night and Sunday making it impossible to run. I dont know if I will make it all the way to then anyway, but even if I do, within two weeks the streak will be finished. Even though it is a "nidche" I will not run as I feel it would be inappropriate.

14 43 61

I changed my plan last night. Originally i was planning for a 20+km Friday long run. A last minute decision to go with the family to jerusalem until late at night forced a change in plans. Too tired and the heat being worse due to starting my run  over an hour later than usual, had me knowing I would realistically need to expect much less for today. I figured 11 or 12km would be satisfactory, but I also knew the run would not be great, as my body felt tired, and I just wanted to get a decent run in, no matter the distance.

I ran slow, body parts felt sore, and it felt like that would be my best today. Question was really distance. I started off running across Kishon and then up Hayarqon. Down to Road 10 and out to Highway 375 toward Eztiyona Junction. And back. With a couple minor extension. Concluding my run at 14km. I could have gone a bit further, but felt like it was enough.

Today was day 43 of my run streak. This week of running took me a distance of 61km

oppressive 5km

I was expecting ti to be a slow run today. When I woke up I wasnt able to run. My legs hurt too much form yesterday still. But I knew I would have some time mid-day in the heat for a short run. As you know the heat doesnt scare me off.

Today's heat was crazy. It was hot. The breeze was hot. The breeze was thick. The sun and heat were oppressive. I intentionally ran slow, but even running slow was difficult. 5km was all I did. I planned it, but I couldnt have done more even if I had wanted to change my mind in the middle.

prepping

I have noticed that whenever I prepare my shoes at night before I go to bed by leaving my running shoes out and putting my orthotics into them - somehow running the next morning never works out. I am not worried - I am planning a short mid-day run, but it is a curiosity. It never fails.

great 12

12km at a really good pace in the searing heat. What more can I ask for? that was a great run. And part of it felt pretty slow because I felt worn out from the heat and hills, but it was still a significantly faster pace than I thought I was running.

Sun. Heat. Sweat. I love it.

good 10km

everything felt great today as I ran 10km on my regular route. Nothing too exciting, with less runners and walkers than usual. Weather was fine with a reasonable breeze and a bit of humidity. basically a good boring run at a reasonable pace.

hot 7

This morning was not possible to run, and I knew that in advance, so I planned to run in the early afternoon. I could have woken up very early to run, at like 4:30, but I really was not feeling up to getting up quite that early.

So I just ran 7km now in the heat. I was a bit wiped from it, but overall it was a good hot run. Slightly slower than I expected, but still a decent pace.

"fast" 5

running on a fast day, especially 17 Tammuz, is a bit weird, and maybe it means this has become an addiction. I thought long and hard about whether or not I should run today and decided to run, with the deciding factor possibly being because of it being a nidche and many people finding small excuses to not even fast.

Anyways, I kept it intentionally short, and I ran pretty slow because of being tired. 5km was it for today.

I do feel tired and think it is time for some rest. we'll see how the next couple of days go..

20 that is 36 that is 68.5

I had what started as a fabulous run this morning on the Lamed Hey route and ended up pretty good.

I was running strong, at a good pace. I even beat the 1 hour mark for the 1st 10km, which I havent done in a while. Frustratingly, in the 8s I started to feel a weird sensation in my knee that worried me a bit. Continuing on I was still running fine, even if I slowed down just a bit to ease off. Unlike last week, I struggled a bit going up the Zechariya hill, though once I hit the top I was fine again and able to continue as before, and even the Tzeelim hill back into RBS was mostly fine.

So I ran 20+km on the Lamed Hey route, with some extensions.

My run streak is now at 36 days, matching my previous high. I expect that it will end some time in the coming week. I ran a total of 69km this week.

slowish 6

I got in a 6km run this morning. I was so tired. After getting ready to go out I decided I was too tired, but I set my alarm for a 20 minute nap and figured I would decide then. After a short nap I felt a little better and went out. The run was short and relatively slow, as expected. Thursday runs are always short and slow, if I can control myself, so as to give me a chance at a nice long run on Friday. Weather was weird - muggy but also overcast, not much air movement. Very sweaty even though I didnt overexert myself.

great 12.5km

some time yesterday I realized I had made a weird mistake. I had been scheduled for a 5 or 6km run, with my medium run scheduled for Wednesday. I ran 11 yesterday, thinking it was Wednesday. When I realized that, I did not know what to do for Wednesdays run - keep it to a 10 or 11m run or drop it down, already having done my medium run?

I figured I would try to keep it still at the medium distance for a medium run, but see how I feel along the way.

I felt great. Was running at a great pace and felt great all along, so I just kept going. I ran 12.5km  and felt like I could have gone a lot longer, if not for time constraints. Just a great run all the way through.

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

good 11

I need to flip a switch in my had. Even my slow runs are much faster than they were a few weeks ago. When I talk about average or fast or slow  need to now be comparing it to a different average than I was just a month ago.

Today I thought I had a slow run, and I expected it to be slow, but the pace was actually ok. I ran 11km, regular route, not too hot but sunny. I felt strong, though when I started I felt a little stiff. Just run through it. Nice start to the day.

Monday, June 25, 2018

hot 5

5km in the middle of the day in the heat. glorious! couldnt run longer due to time constraints.

Sunday, June 24, 2018

fabulous 7

I slept poorly last night so expected this mornings run to be short and miserable. I went out later than usual, so it was already sunny and hot, making it likely to be even more difficult.

Yet somehow this turned into my fastest run in a very long time. And because I felt great and was running so well, I extended the run to 7km, instead of killing it at 5.

Saturday, June 23, 2018

recovery 7

This felt like a recovery run. A bit slower than average, a bit painful and sore, but overall a good 7km run. Nothing too exciting, just pushing my way through it

Friday, June 22, 2018

fabulous 19 on day 29

Got in my long run today, and it was longer than I planned, but only by a bit.

With my previous long run distance being at 17km, I have been itching to break that with an 18+ run, though the past couple of weeks did not afford me the opportunity. I picked 18, really 18.5 because the Lamed Hey loop from my house to my house via Road 10 and Highway 375 and Highway 38 is 18.5km and that is somewhat more desirable than extending small sections to get another extra kilometer and another and another. That often works just fine, but sometimes it is nice to just go out and run a simple course where I dont have to keep calculating if I need to run a little extra detour or when to turn back. I know this course will give me the 18.5 I was looking for.

The run was beautiful with a nice cool breeze, until the last couple of kilometers. It was sunny and pleasant. The course has 3 large enough hills that makes it overall difficult, though my overall pace ended up being better than I expected. The 3 hills killed my pace, but besides for those the rest of the route I ran at a pretty good pace.

I ended at 19km, so am happy and that should keep me for a couple of weeks until I get the itch to break 20, which I am sure will come sooner rather than later...

My run streak is up to 29 days. This week of running took me a distance of 62km.

Thursday, June 21, 2018

labored 5km

I had planned for a 5km run this morning, and I got a 5km run this morning.

So why was this unexpected?

Because I was feeling great. I tought after yesterday's fast run I would be feeling stiff and sore all day and my legs would be heavy and tired. But they weren't. I was feeling great. When that happens, even if I planned on a distance, I very likely might extend it. Maybe to 6 or 7km, in this case.

But even though I was feeling great, my run was slow and felt a bit labored. So I kept it at 5km, even though I could have extended it.

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

great 10km

I went out this morning planning for my regular Wednesday 9-11km run. The weather was great and I was feeling good. I didn't even realize how fast I was running until a bit further into the run, but I didnt pay attention, as usual, to the stats as the run continued on, so I didn't even know I was keeping the pace up.

I ended up running 10km at a very fast (for me) pace.

Weather was great, if a bit hot. A couple of runners/walkers out and about but not too many

Tuesday, June 19, 2018

good 7.5

had a good run this morning, even though I kept procrastinating until I finally went out. Felt good, felt strong and  ran 7.5km at a good pace. Weather was pleasant and sunny. Seemed quiet out there, but I enjoyed it.

Monday, June 18, 2018

early 5

my scedule required me to get up extra early today to get a short run in, if I wanted to rnu. And I did. So I did. Ther eis an off chance I would b able to get a run in in the late afternoon, but not being sure if that will work out I decided to go with the sure thing of an early run, even if it could only be short.

so 5km it is.

If I have another chance later, maybe I will still take it.

Sunday, June 17, 2018

slow 6.4

I felt a little stiff going out this morning, I guess because of last nights faster than expected and longer than expected run. I pushed a little and ran 6.4km but it was pretty slow. The air was not pleasant. Very warm, very humid and very little air movement. It was kind of just blah out there. Just happy to get it over with

Saturday, June 16, 2018

average 9

Started the new week with a bang. had a great 9km run. It required a pit stop but my strength and energy were good. I had hoped for a 7.5-8km run  and ended with 9. Nice and sweaty on a humid and hot Motzash. Lots of runners and walkers out and just had a good run at average pace, which is better than the normal Motzash run

11 that is 22 that is 170

As I said, considering the soreness today could not be a long run. I woke feeling a little less sore, but still too sore.

I ended up running a very slow 11km on a beautiful morning. After the first few kilometers I felt a lot better and got into a groove, but I was still running way too slow to knock out anything like a 17 or 18km run, so I made do with 11km.

This week ends with today being my 22nd consecutive running day during which I ran 170km, with 51.5km this week.

slow recovery 5

I now remember why I stopped playing basketball (and baseball/softball, but especially basketball) about 8 years ago shortly after I started running marathons.

My son wanted to play basketball last night and I decided to go shoot around with him and play some one on one. It was a lot of fun, but I am so sore and my joints (knees and ankles, plus Achilles) hurt so much. I remember that back then it prevented me form being able to run, especially long runs, in addition to the risk of injury being significantly increased.

Regardless, I played and this morning I was extremely sore. I still felt it important to go for a run, to help my muscles recover. A recovery run of sorts, from basketball rather than from a previous run.

I knew it would be painful, and I knew it would be slow, but I was determined to try. At worst I wouldn't be able to run even my 5km minimum, but I figured chances are I would, albeit slowly.

And I made it. My first couple of kilometers were even at a decent pace, but in the middle of the third I slowed down significantly. My overall pace was just slightly slower than average, though my last two and a half km were significantly slower.

I am happy I got the run in and hopefully it will help me with tomorrow's run, though I expect my hope for breaking 18 tomorrow has been dashed and I'll have to probably make do with a medium length run.

sweaty 10

I slept through this mornings run but mid-day had an opportunity so I went out for 10km. Warm and very humid but it seemed to cool off a bit and there was a breeze so it was relatively pleasant. The humidity was a little tough and made for a very sweaty run, but I love that. Pace was good except for on 2 specific kilometers. One one kilometer I got a work call so I walked part of it for a few minutes while I talked. The second was an uphill climb. hose two made my overall average pace about average rather than fast.

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

pretty good 7.5

Today was a pretty good 7.5km run. Not great, but pretty good.

I felt a lot better this morning than I did yesterday, but sill not totally back to normal. I still got a good run and felt decent, albeit a little slow. When I tried to push harder in spots, for intervals, I felt it very difficult and felt muscle soreness in my thighs.

Good weather, a bit humid with rain expected later today. Did not see too many other people out running or walking.

Monday, June 11, 2018

lousy 5

that was a lousy run. I wasnt even going to run. After a late party at which I drank too much beer and ate too much, I kind of wanted to sleep late this morning. But I woke up early. I was still not going to run because I knew it wouldnt be good, but after a while I figured I am just sitting around anyway wasting my time, I might as well go out. So I did. But it was really a lousy run. I cut it at 5km. What a waste of a nice cool morning.

Sunday, June 10, 2018

tough fast 5

5km. kept it short because I felt very stiff and it was a difficult run. My pace was better than I thought, so I am not sure how this works as I felt I was running very slow bu tit turned out to be a faster than normal pace - even faster than some of my recent fast runs. I am still trying to figure all this out. Maybe I am running more efficiently with my new shoes, as is supposed to happen when you get the appropriate shoes.

Saturday, June 9, 2018

gr8 run

had a great 8km run tonight. felt good. humid but pretty good weather. felt good. all good.

Friday, June 8, 2018

hard 11

11km. it was hard. felt a little strain on some joints. Good thing I knew to keep it low distance today, for adjustment with the new shoes. Even though I ran fine at a decent pace, it did feel like a struggle the entire time - wasn't fluid. I'll get there after a few more runs in these shoes.

weather was great. hot and sunny but not yet oppressively hot.

that's 15 days on my latest run streak, with 52.5km logged this week

Thursday, June 7, 2018

nice short 5

today's run was meant to be short, for a combination of reasons, including but not limited to; tired legs, not overdoing it before Friday's longer runs, recovery from Wednesday's medium run plus a series of faster runs, and breaking in new shoes. The new shoes are stability shoes and, more importantly for this purpose, with a zero drop heel. Because of that the structural effect on the body is different so you are supposed to ease into the adjustment. Because of that, tomorrow might be a longer run, but it probably wont be a full long run.

So, that being the case, I was disciplined today and kept it to 5. Felt good, though a bit overcast and humid. Speed/pace was the same as it has been recently.

Wednesday, June 6, 2018

sore 8.5

I thought this run might be slow and tired, considering I ran fast late yesterday afternoon, but I felt worse than expected. I felt sore joints (not sore muscles) and tired body. I had planned for an 8-10km run, but feeling the way I felt had me thinking to cut it to 5-6.

I did not really get into a groove, but I did keep myself going and set short goals and every time I reached one I set another that i knew was reachable. So when I hit 5, I said I'll continue until the orange bin before I turn so I can hit 6. When I got to the orange bin I said I'll go until the top of the hill. Then it was until the traffic circle, etc... and at the end I finished with 8.67km

Tuesday, June 5, 2018

sweaty 7

just got in a good hot 7km run, after the workday was over. I got good and sweaty. I thought I was running slow, and that was even intentional, as I expected to have a slow run, but my pace overall was pretty good, and that even includes a couple of minutes when I stopped to walk while on a work-related phone call that came in...

Hot, sunny, sweaty. The best way to run

Monday, June 4, 2018

sunny 6.7

I didnt get to run this morning, but when I got home from Tel Aviv at about 5pm I was itching to run. Desptie the heat. Despite having a physically tiring workday. I just needed it.

I had a great 6.7km run in the sun and not too oppressive heat. Pace was good and I intentionally put effort out to run part of it extra fast, concluding at a significantly faster pace than average.

Good Sun. Good Heat. Good Sweat. Burn it all out, baby!

Sunday, June 3, 2018

7.8km

I got up early to watch the end of the Cubs game and then get in a short run... While the Cubs went to extra innings, I decided to go for a slightly longer run, though I continued listening to the game while out on the run.

I extended my run to 7, and thought I would actually finish at 7.5km. It turned out to be 7.86, and had I checked the stats before I stopped the clock I would have just extended it to 8, but I only noticed my distance after stopping the run.

It was a good run, and was surprisingly slightly faster than average. Air was cool and I didnt see too many other people out there..

slowish 6.5

This whole thing since switching back to Endomondo is weird. Sometimes I feel like I had a slow run and I see my pace logged at far faster than I expected, and sometimes I feel like I had a reasonable, or even fast run, and see my pace logged slower than normal. And in general since switching back to Endomondo my pace is significantly faster than it was with Runkeeper.

Tonight it was nice and cool so I decided to go out right away for a run. Even though the entire Shabbos my legs were sore, once I got out there the run itself felt pretty decent most of the time. But when I finished my 6.5km I saw my pace logged at slightly slower than average. Not as slow as normal recovery run, but slower than I thought.

It was a good 6.4 and I am happy

weird 17

Today was strange. I planned on getting up early for a nice 18km long run. When I woke up, I just didnt feel like running. I took my time getting ready, I postponed, and eventually I finally went out thinking maybe I'll do 11-12 instead.

I started as normal, running across Kishon and into the beginning of RBS B. This was instead of doing a Lamed-Hey Loop for 18.5km. Then I ran up Hayarqon and Hayarden. I went up to Dolev and ran 2 loops, and then headed back down Hayarden, Hayargon. When pushing 10, 11, I thought I could go back across Kishon and still hit 17, or even 18 and I was still feeling great. So I fiddled a bit with extensions, part of the bridge to Gimmel, part of the road to the shopping center being built. By the time I passed my house I was already a bit over 13, so I figred I would go for it as I was feeling good and figured it wasnt a stretch. I went back across Kishon, though this time without the extension into RBS B. I finished at 17km, with a good time, slightly better than average. The 17th kilometer, though, was a bit difficult.

The weather was cool but humid, so it was a pleasant enough run.

I didnt add up my mileage (kilometrage) for May, but I did count my runs. While I am now on an 8-day run streak, and thanks to a previous 36 day run streak, In May, a month of 31 days, I had 26 runs.

Thursday, May 31, 2018

fast 6

6km run!

woke up early but was too worn out to run. I fell back asleep while I was starting to get ready to run, and when I woke up it was too late to get the early morning run in.

Weather now was warm and humid, but not unpleasant. My pace was again faster than my average, this time by a nice bit, not just barely like the past few days. I dont know if I am getting a little faster again or if this is just a blip.. I guess time will tell

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

average 8km

good 8km run this morning. I actually planned on running 10 but just felt  like 8 was enough and I had to finish.

I started off running strong and fast, but at about 4km I started to feel it in my legs and started slowing down a bit. That is also just before I start my uphill climb. Sadly my Endomondo crashed at 4.32km, though I only noticed this at the end of the run, so I never got my final exact stats. I know the distance was 8km because I know the route and run it often, but average pace and all that jazz I can only guess at

Tuesday, May 29, 2018

quick 8km

I was initially not sure about running today. I sort of planned to wing it, either running or not depending on how I would feel in the morning. It turned out when I woke up to run, I was just too tired so I made an executive decision to skip the run and take the day off.

That was that until late morning afforded me some free time and was feeling good so I figured I'll go out for a run. So I did. I ran 8km at slightly better than average pace.

It is time for new running shorts, as these are worn out and are starting to bother me. The tears are finally at the point that they are causing bad chafing. I just dug through my shelf and pulled out another pair I had that i never used. I'll throw these out and try those next time I run and see how they do before I go buy something. I am also starting to hunt for new shoes, as these are way over-expired...

peaceful 8

I just got in a nice, tired, slow, peaceful 8km run. Air was humid, but not so hot so it wasnt so bad.

Sunday, May 27, 2018

hot 6

Sorry. I ran. What are you going to do about it? I couldnt run in the morning, as I knew I wouldnt be able to. Late afternoon, a while after I got back from the hospital, despite being tired and worn out, i decided I was just going to go for a short slow run. I planned on 5km due to time restrictions. I just wanted to get out, sweat a bit, stretch my legs and get some air. I ended up running 6km. It felt very slow but my pace was about average for me. It was nice and hot, and love running in the heat despite the increased difficulty. i was sweating like a pig and I loved it.

Saturday, May 26, 2018

slow 5

good 5km run tonight. decent strong slow speed - meaning not as slow as a regular recovery run but a regular slow run speed. good cool air after a hot day.

tomorrow wont be a running day as I will be sleeping in the hospital tonight, which is why i wanted to ensure getting this run in tonight..

Friday, May 25, 2018

hot delayed 8

I had planned a nice long run for this morning. I was hoping to run about 18km. Alas, it was not meant to be.

A medical emergency in the family had me sleeping in the hospital last night. That means I would not be able to run early in the morning. It also means I would be very tired on Friday because sleeping in the hospital is horrible - no proper bed, noise all night, disturbances all night from patients and nurses. That's fine, but it is not conducive to a proper nights sleep. That also means my only opportunity, if at all, would come later in the day when it would be too hot.

I was already settled in with no run, but late this afternoon decided I prepped enough for Shabbos and wanted to go out for a short run. It is very hot so I figured 5km would be enough. And boy is it hot out there! But I pushed through the heat and ran 8km. It felt great, even in the heat. I didn't get the distance in, but at least I got a run in.

Wednesday, May 23, 2018

great 10km

I expected today's run to be between 8 and 10km, but I also expected it to be relatively slow, as I expected to be sore from yesterday's good run. I rarely get two good strong runs in a row. Today was the exception I guess.

As soon as I got out there I knew it would be a good run. I felt great and strong and I was running at a good pace. I ended up running 10km and felt great the entire time. When running up the hill of Hayarqon I had slowed down and someone else blew right past me - I thought my pace was killed and the rest of the way would continue to be sluggish, but after arriving at the top and turning on Hayarden, a few minutes later I passed him. I also saw a group of runners in the distance and tried to catch up to them, which I did moments before my turning point at the corner of Dolev-Hayarden.

Great weather, great run. I am not planning on running tomorrow, so my next run should be the Friday long run.

Tuesday, May 22, 2018

nice 8.5

I am not looking to start another running streak just yet. Maybe next week, maybe not, but definitely not now. I do plan on running tomorrow , but then not on Thursday. I ran today and got 8.5km in. It was a nice hot and muggy morning, but not horrible. My pace was decent and everything felt pretty good. A much better run than yesterday, and that's just the way it is - some days are better than others...

Monday, May 21, 2018

slow 7

I just got a slow 7km run in, and it felt like the slowest I have run in a very long time, and I have run pretty slow pretty often pretty recently. So this was very slow.

Nothing felt right, including some pain, bad breathing, a lot of discomfort. The run was a chore. Hopefully a messed up schedule because of Shvuos is to blame. I did not sleep well last night, and that is pretty normal right after Shvuos. Hopefully I get back on schedule pretty quickly and everything gets back to normal.

Friday, May 18, 2018

concluding 5km

worn out from a long and tiring day yesterday, I woke up early having planned a long run, but it wasnt meant to be. too tired. I went back to sleep without even resetting my alarm.

An hour and a half later I woke up and though still tired and feeling worn out I decided to go out and run.

The only remaining problem was that there is another sharav right now with extreme heat and dry winds. So between that and my lack of energy, it seemed only a short run would be in my cards for today.

I loped around my regular course for a lazy 5km run. I felt completely baked from the heat, but I got the run in.

Thus concludes my 36 day running streak. Maybe after shvuos I'll start another streak, with no holidays in sight for a couple of months, or maybe I'll just get back to running on a normal schedule. We'll see

This weeks run totaled 49km.

Thursday, May 17, 2018

slow 5 on day 35

if I counted right today was day 35 of my running streak. That will come to an end tomorrow, assuming I run tomorrow, as Saturday night is the Shvuos holiday and I will not be able to run.

This morning I ran 5km. My son ran with me again. He woke up early to do so, after I wouldnt run with him last night because I was too tired and it was too late.

The weather was nice. I made sure to keep it short so as to not hurt my chances for a good long run tomorrow. I also ran it intentionally slow, though I probably couldnt have run much faster even if I tried.

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

lousy decent 10.5km

It felt like a lousy run right away. I was feeling heavy from a late heavy dinner last night and a little sore as well. I was running slow and just felt uncomfortable. While having planned a 9-10km run, I considered dropping it at 5-6.. At the 5 mark I needed a pit stop and the suddenly I felt a little better and decided to go a little further. As I continued I got a little stronger and stronger and it just felt like a much better run. I finished at 10.5km - the first half lousy and the second half decent.

Tuesday, May 15, 2018

"fast" 8.5km

great run today.. Felt really good. As soon as I started I said to myself I would go a little further today and get a little more distance. I ended with 8.5km at a good strong pace. The air was cool and the sky was overcast. It looks like it will rain but it did not feel like rain coming.

I used Endomondo today and I was surprised by the results. The distance was measured differently, with the kilometer markers being a bit before Runkeeper marked them. The difference was not big though, so no big deal. There was a big difference in the speed/pace measuring. With Endomondo today I ran an average pace 40 seconds per kilometer faster than what i average with Runkeeper. There is a chance I just had a fast run today, but it did not feel particularly fast when I was running it - the run felt kind of average in that regard.

Monday, May 14, 2018

early 7

early morning 7km. Nice cool air. Felt great when I started but a couple kilometers in I started to feel sore and slowed down a bit.

Runkeeper app crashed again, right at the 5km mark this time, making that at least the third time in the past two weeks. If I cant rely on it to keep track of my distance, it is time to switch apps. I'll be going back to  endomondo for now. I have taken a liking to Runkeeper, and I know Endomondo does not have a couple of the features I lie in Runkeeper,  but so be it.

Sunday, May 13, 2018

tough 5

today was the kind of run I totally would have just skipped, if not for my running streak, which has to come to an end this week anyway, the latest on Shabbos because of the "two day holiday", if not before.

everything felt stiff and difficult. I just forced myself to do it and get it over with, and kept it to my minimum of 5km.

My runkeeper crashed after just 1.3km, so I have no idea as to my pace

Motzash 8

I was expecting a recovery run. It was more solid than my normal recovery run, but the speed was about right, though I thought I was running faster and when I heard Runkeeper tell me my pace I was a little surprised, considering how solid it felt.

I finished at 8km, 4 of which I ran with my son. It was a nice cool night, and I ran across Kishon, up Kayarqon and back, with some extensions to bump up the distance a bit

Friday the 14th

good solid run even though I wasnt really feeling the groove. I got in 14km but I went out not knowing what I would run. I knew I was not looking to increase my distance from previous weeks and get a really long run in, but I also was looking for more than a short run. I took it by ear and feel. Even though I wasnt feeling great and had some minor aches and pains throughout the run, I evaluated at each stage whether I should continue for some more or come to an end.

I ran across Kishon, up Hayarqon, up Hayarden to Dolev, around Dolev twice and then back down Hayarden and Hayarqon, with some extra bits...

14km seemed like a good point at which to conclude my run

As always, I count my running week as Saturday night through Friday, so this running week totaled 8 runs and 63km

tight 5

my legs felt stiff, so it was a tough run, but I got 5km in.
Considering I ran twice yesterday, including last night, and I want to run a somewhat long run tomorrow, I was determined to keep this run short. It really wasnt a problem considering how stiff I felt, though once I hit 4km I was tempted to suffer through and stretch the run to 6 or 7. Just because. I forced myself to end at 5, as clearer thinking returned.

2nd of the day 5.3km

this was weird. My son wanted to run with me after dinner. How could I say no? And now I think I need to try running twice a day every now and then..

I was just going to run 3km with him, as he doesnt run regularly, but then I wasnt sure if I could count that as a run, being so short. So I figured I'll judge it base don how he's doing, but I would try for 5. He was doing ok, though clearly at the end he was struggling a little bit. We finished at 5.3km and had a good run.

medium 10

I actually went out today without thinking about a plan for what i was going to run. I just went with the default 5-7. Once I started running I realized it is Wednesday and if I want to get a "medium" distance run in, this is the only day for that. So, I decided right then that I would run 10km.

The weather was great, but for the first time in a while I felt actual soreness in my leg muscles - not the normal feeling of my legs feeling tired or heavy, but actual soreness, as if I ran a marathon, though not even close to that bad.Just sore muscles from running more distance - clearly not from running too fast. So I took it slow and careful.

I ran across Kishon then up Hayarqon, then across Hayarden to the top by Dolev and then back around to home, finishing at just over 10km.,..

uncomfy 7.5

I went out planning to run 7, and I ended up running 7.5km. The story is in the middle. The weather is great, the air is cool, but I wasnt feeling great. I was running fine and strong and everything mechanically felt fine, but I just felt uncomfortable. I thought that I might just quit it at 5 or so km, as I just wasnt feeling right - maybe it was the potato chips I ate last night - but after I hit 5 I just kept going and stretched it out and then decided to extend my run a bit. So it didnt feel like the greatest of runs, but it actually was pretty good

wet 7km

I am not a big fan of running in the rain, but it isnt so bad. The forecast has rain coming later today, so I expected this to be a dry run. When I went outside I knew the rain was coming - it was muggy, humid, overcast and clearly imminent. Shortly into the run the air became a bit misty with light dops and moisture, but still no rain. After the 4km mark, it started thundering and even lightning a bit, and I knew I'd get caught in it

Sure enough, just a bit later it started raining nicely and I finished my run at 7km, the last 1km or so in a steady rainfall. Despite it being muggy and wet, I had a good solid run. Everything felt good, and my pace was slightly better than the past couple of days...

For having just turned into a great uncle and I should be feeling old, marking my 25th consecutive day running felt pretty good

Sunday 7

went out feeling pretty good but expecting a Sunday morning recovery run after another decent Motzash run. For a recovery run it was a pretty good one. It was slower than last night's run, but nto as painful as a recovery run normally is.

Anyways, beautiful weather and I got 7km in. My Runkeeper app actually crashed at 5.52km, and I dont know why, but based on my distances and turning points I probably got more like 7.25 or so, so I will call it 7.

Motzash 7km

I expected a lousy Motzash recovery run but it wasnt so bad. Until early Shabbos afternoon my legs still felt sluggish and heavy. After my Shabbos afternoon nap things felt somewhat better.. by the time I went out to run I felt pretty good. Still a slow run but not bad at all and overall it felt pretty good. I got in a nice 7km run and thankfully the temps dropped and was a bit better than last weeks runs..

hot 16.5km

That was a hot run but I got in slightly more than I had planned. I was hoping to have enough energy for a 15+km run and concluded my run at 16.5km. Despite the heat I was fine and felt good, even though I did not bring water along. I only felt the lack of water near the very end of the run, though the last 3 or so kilometers were at a slower pace than the rest of the run... It was a slow run but a really good run.
And thus concludes another week of running

That totals 55.75km for the week of running and today has been my 22nd consecutive day of running.

6.6km Lag Run

The heat was oppressive, the air smelt burnt, the air was thick. At least there was the occasional mild breeze.

6.6km on Lag b'Omer morning. Good solid slow run in crazy weather.

obligatory 5

I probably should have just stayed in bed for another hour, and I knew it at the time. I just felt obligated to get up and run.  I didnt even enjoy it. Just went out there and did it, despite being so tired and felt a bit worn down. I intentionally kept it short at 5km. Weather was pleasant temperatures but surprisingly windy.

nice 10

This morning's run was nice, though it was unexpectedly warm and muggy with little air movement. The sky was hazy and overcast. I got in a nice pleasant 10km run, albeit slow and steady. Everything felt good today. was aiming for 8-9 and ended with 10, so that's a good start to the day.

lousy 5

a lousy 5km run this morning, but a run nonetheless. I was kind of hoping to get in 8 today, but everything just hurt and nothing was in sync. I could have forced myself but I felt it was better to just stop  at 5. Save it for another day

6.4km post recovery

got in a good 6.4km run this morning. I thought so soon after last night's run that this woujld be slow and I'd feel tired and heavy legs but I felt great and it always surprises me that this works in this way and so soon after a recovery run I can run again at a decent speed

6.25km recovery

Got a good slow recovery run in tonight. 6.25km. Nothing exciting or unexpected. just running

surprising 14.5

strange morning. I woke up very early to run, but got a little bit of a late start. it just took me longer to get ready than normal, even taking into account that I was watching the last few innings of the Cubs game (they won!).

I finally got out, planning to run about 13km and found myself just not feeling it. I was slow but also disinterested and just not in my normal groove. The weather was great and the sky was turning a beautiful blue dotted with small white clouds, so I decided to try to force myself to 9-10km, all in the neighborhood, and that would be enough.

By the time I was pushing 8km I decided to just add on going out on the 10 to the 375 and back and that should give me about 13, maybe 13.5km. So I did. At the end of the 10 I expended it a bit for a good spot for a pit stop, and then ran back. At the end my run concluded at 14.5km, and I am not sure where I miscalculated. I never really got into a groove. It was slow going all the way. I ran, I finished. I exceeded my expectations.

6.3 average km

got a little late start but was pleasantly surprised to be able to run. The forecasts had expected early morning thunderstorms scheduled for just when I normally run. Blue skies told me otherwise, so out I went. I ran 6.3km and even got to see Tzvi in the process. Last week I made the mistake of running a relatively fast 10km on Thursday but then on Friday I felt lousy. Hopefully keeping the run today to average will allow me to have a good long run tomorrow - and hopefully the weather will allow it as well.

humid 6.5km

I woke up early but was very tired. Thankfully I was conscious enough to consider that if I go back to sleep I might not be able to run at all today because I wont have time at least until early afternoon and th eforecast is calling for serious rains On the other hand, I was too tired and tempted to say, go back to sleep and see what happens later, later. I decided to get up and go out.

I got in a nice run, though it was a bit humid. I had been planning for a short run anyway, but at some point decided to extend it just a bit and concluded my run at 6.5km.

7km slow

7km on a nice morning run. I planned for 5, then extended it to 6, then extended it to 7. Was a bit slow but not horrible and it felt good rather than laborious so I just kept at it.

10km on a Monday morning

If you think I missed out my run today and broke my streak of consecutive running days, you would be wrong. I did wake up early to run but felt very tired and decided to go back to sleep for another hour. When I got up t was too late to run, so that was that. Happily I was able to get the run in after taking care of some work and personal matters, and before the sun got too hot in the day.

I ran 10km in the beautiful sunny weather with still coolish, though warming, air. A little bit slower than I expected, but a good steady and solid run.

Sunday, April 22, 2018

5km

got in a tired but solid 5km run this morning. The temps were a bit chillier than expected, with some raindrops in the air. Thought abut waiting for a possible mid-day run but being unsure of both my availability for such a run today and the forecast for rain, I figured a less strong run is better than no run...

Saturday, April 21, 2018

8.5 Motzash

8.5km Motzash run. Felt much better than on Friday. Had a good, smooth, slow run but felt good all the way

Friday, April 20, 2018

slow 5

that was a lousy run, but at least I ran. Right when I got up I knew it wouldn't be good. I felt tired, not even sleepy, just tired and heavy and lethargic. It took me a much longer time to get ready to go out. When I finally got out I felt heavy, I felt the bbq from yesterday, and my whole body felt tired. I was running at a slower pace than I remember running ever.

But I ran.

I cut it short at 5km rather than stretch out the longish run I was planning to run and expecting, but at least I ran.

A celebratory 10km

after waking up early t run, I somehow went back to sleep. I dont even remember choosing to do so, so I am not sure what happened. WHen I woke up much later, I thought to myself that I would not be able to run, as it is already too late and soon it will be too hot. Then I realized that with no work today and no need to rush to get the kids out to school, because of Yom Haatzmaut, I could still go out for a run with no time constraints. So I did.

And I did not even have a distance plan. I figured I'll just run until I am finished. So I did.

I was enjoying the run, the sun, the good weather. The temps were reasonable but already getting a bit warm, and my pace was mostly decent. So I just kept going. I finished my run at 10km. I am not sure how this will affect tomorrow's long run, but anyways I was thinking of pulling back a bit on the distance this week and keeping it below last week's high of 15, so maybe I'll stick to that plan and even drop the distance a little more. I guess I'll decide tomorrow.

8 on 8

I woke up nice and early today and had enough time for a good run with slightly more distance. While listening to the last few innings of the Cubs game (which they lost), I ran 8.5km, starting with my run across Kishon and Hayarden and then climbing Hayarqon and partially up Hayarden until turning around and heading back.

The air felt a little warmer today for so early in the morning, but it was still pleasant.

I havent looked back, but this seems to me to be my 8th consecutive day running, so 8ish km seems appropriate

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

6km

another 6km run. felt good. legs were a little tired but much less than the past couple of days. cant ask for more than this - the ability to run a bit in great weather on a beautiful morning with fresh air

Monday, April 16, 2018

6 for 6

I was looking forward to running 8-9km this morning, expecting my legs to feel strong and fresh after yesterday's recovery run. In reality they felt like lead bricks and running was relatively difficult and felt forced. I cut it short at 6km. I did just realize that that if I am counting right this is now my 6th consecutive day of running.

getting hot

Looking at the forecast I see the increasing temperatures has this week being a pretty hot one. I am going to have to make sure I run early and not count on mid-day runs...

sunny 6

I actually planned on running this morning, even though I ran last night. I set my alarm to get up early for a run. Unfortunately I slept really poorly last night and despite waking up early to run I was just too tired. I thought that was it, but somehow in the middle of the day some time cleared up and I had an opportunity to get a short run in. I probably should have laid down for a nap, but I decided to run.

I got 6km in, but it was very slow. It actually felt like a recovery run, much more so than last night's run. I dont mind the speed. Considering how tired I was, plus the mid-day heat, I was just happy to be out in the sun stretching my legs..

Saturday, April 14, 2018

5km recovery

got a really good 5km recovery run in. only 1 pit stop but besides for that everything felt great and strong

Friday, April 13, 2018

Friday long

I almost didn't run today. I mean, when I went to bed last night I planned on getting up early for a long run, but when I woke up I really did not want to run. I woke up early and was feeling really tired and lazy. After going through part of my morning routine I decided to go back to bed for a little bit longer and see if that would give me some extra oomph. I woke up about half an hour later and felt a little better, less tired, but still was feeling kind of lazy. After wasting some time I decided to go out anyway, since I was up, but it would be for a shorter than planned long run - I figured if I ran 14.5km last week, I would go out today for maybe a 12-13km run. That is respectable but also taking it easy. And I admit that once I got outside to start running I even considered keeping it as short as 5-6km!

Putting all that aside, once I started running I felt great. I had no energy problems, no strenuous running or discomfort or anything like that. I did not push hard and had a nice run, but I felt fine and the early morning weather was great. I abandoned my thoughts of keeping the run down to 5 or so km, and figured 12 was fairly realistic.

I changed my route a bit, leaving RBS but thinking that instead of running out all the way to Tzomet Etziona and back, I would detour through the Mishkafayim neighborhood and then head out on the highway without needing to go quite as far.
.
Once I was out on the highway, I decided I wanted to check if the gazelle I saw dead in the road last week was still out there. So I did not run out to the Etziona Junction but I ran out pretty close to it. And no, the gazelle is gone.

By the time I was nearly finished I saw I was already pushing 14km, so I figred I might as well. I extended myself just a bit more and detoured a little at the end and finished at 15km, for my longest run since my return.
