great 8.5

 Altra Rivera

Just had a great mid-day 8.5km run at a great pace.

I think I might be on to something. As I cut back my running, I am running better. Maybe those rest days in between runs is really important and beneficial. Maybe all those experts I usually ignore arent wrong after all!

great 7

 Altra Rivera

great 7km run. Was up early but I decided not to run because of the cold, but I also knew there was a good chance because of my planned schedule that I would have some time for the run when the sun is up and the temperatures will have warmed up. It worked out and I was able to get out in the beautiful weather and go for a nice run. Everything felt great and I ran at a very good pace. I felt strong. I was wavering between a 5 and 6km run, due to a scheduled meeting, and then decided I would push it and get back just shortly before the meeting and run 6.5, but then ended up pushing it to 7. And then I found out my meeting was postponed half an hour so I could have even run a bit more. Anyway, great run, great pace

great 10

 Brooks

Great 10km mid-day run. Went out late, in the cloudy and windy and cool weather and had a great run at a phenomenal pace. A pace I rarely hit.

great 8

 Brooks

With the weather turning better than expected, I went out for a run. I got in a great 8km run. My legs felt a little strained late in the run, as I was running faster than normal, but it was a really good run that I finished at 8km.

decent 6.5

 Brooks

Went out mid-day for a run. It was beautiful weather so I was extra motivated to get out, but I must say it was warmer than expected. Anyway I had a decent 6.5km run at a good pace. Felt a little on tired legs at times but overall pretty good, and the pace was good.

great 8.5

 Altra Rivera

The rain passed and the weather got beautiful again. I went out and ran 8.5km in the beautiful weather, sunny and great air. Felt strong and ran at a great pace. This whole week has been good strong runs, though a bit less distance than I would have preferred.

windy 7.5

 Altra Rivera

good mid-day 7.5km run. Felt good, very strong. Solid run. It was very windy, with the storms approaching. Made it difficult in some points running into a strong headwind, but I survived it...

good 6.5

good 6.5km run this morning. It was colder than expected when I started but got nice and comfortable as the sun came up more and warmed up the air a bit...

good 6km run this morning after getting sluggish from a week of Chanukah with no running.....

tough 8

 Altra Rivera

tough 8km run. Great and beautiful morning but my legs felt worn out. I always forget until Friday that I should either not run on Thursday or just make it a light and easy run - otherwise it messes up my Friday run. My 8km run was at a good pace but it was very tough and I had to stop to rest several times.

good 6.5

 Brooks

good mid-morning 6.5km run. Such a beautiful day! It would be a shame not to take advantage and go outside and enjoy a bit!

 Brooks

ok mid-day 6km run. nothing fancy, good solid run at a decent pace

good 12

Brooks

I went out for a run and felt good but was a bit unmotivated and was looking for excuses to stop. I was kind of hoping it would start pouring rain nit he middle and give me an excuse to stop. It was a good run overall at a good pace, but I stopped a few times to rest or adjust or whatever. I was really looking forward to a run closer to the 15km range but then once I started I was thinking more the 6km range. I kept going back and forth in my mind while running and at some point I just decided to surpass Wednesday's run. I ended at 12km

Wednesday, November 17, 2021

good 10

 Brooks

Had a good mid-day 10km run. Really wanted to get out. Weather was absolutely beautiful, though it turned out to be slightly warmer than expected and a couple of the water fountains on my route werent working, but it was a pretty good run at a good pace

good 6.5

 Brooks

good 6.5km Motzash run. slow but I didnt need to take any breaks or pitstops so it was slow but solid

Friday, November 12, 2021

good 7.5

 Brooks

good 7.5km. been taking it easy recently, partly because of being slightly under the weather, so went out for a run today but didnt want to overdo it, so kept it to a 7.km at a decent pace. Felt good overall.

Jerusalem 21.1km Half Marathon

 Altra Rivera

I couple of weeks ago I decided to sign up to run the half marathon in the Jerusalem Marathon event. I dont remember what my last race was, but it has been a few years since I participated in any race.

I decided to run the half marathon, even though it is a little bit longer than my longest long runs in recent times. The hills of Jerusalem are very tough so I didnt know how I would do, but I employed my new hill strategy of taking it slow on the hills and running harder on the downs and flats. I think it was successful as I finished the race at give or take my expected time, and I did not even stop once to rest nor did I walk at all.

It was a beautiful day, a beautiful city, a beautiful race.

21.1km in 2:22:22 (official time) to keep all the OCD people satisified

BTW, I beat the Marathon winner, who rana  2:24... then again, he ran the full marathon and I only ran the half..

prep 5

 Altra Rivera

Went out for a slow 5km. It was a good run and even though it was slow, it was a little faster than I had planned for. I just want to keep the legs stretched out right now for Friday's half marathon in Jerusalem, but dont want to go into it with tired and worn out legs....

good 6

 Brooks

I skipped running last night but had a good 6km run this morning. cool morning air and my legs seemed mostly recovered from Fridays long run

Friday, October 22, 2021

good 19

 Altra Rivera

good 19km run. vacillated between running long and running medium, and changed decisions multiple times throughout the run. in the end I pushed to 19 and overall felt good, even though I took it a little slow.

ok 6.5

 Brooks

Hadd an ok 6.5km run. Wanted to hit 10 but was struggling a bit with tired legs. I was somewhat relieved when I got a phone call that forced me to end my run, so i finished up at 6.5km  with a good excuse :-)

good 6.5

 Altra Rivera

Cracked out one of my new pairs of shoes that have been on the shelf, as I am retiring the Hoka shoes at about 800km. I might still run some short runs in them but they are basically retired.

Ran 6.5km to break in the new shoes. Beautiful weather, running in the sun but cool air. Fabulous. Felt great, decent pace.

Saturday, October 16, 2021

recovery 6

 Hoka

I think tonight's 6km run was pretty much a real recovery run. It was good in the sense that it was steady and consistent and I felt good, but it was slow.

pushed 8.5

 Hoka

good tough 8.5km run. Went out mid-morning. The weather is finally just not too hot enough that daytime running is possible, schedule depending... It was tough though. It might have been the warm sun and I am now starting to think it might be time to retire the Hoka shoes. I am at about 800km on them and I think it might be time to replace them. All my recent difficult runs, plus a little bit of pain here and there, were all while running in the Hokas.

good 12

 Hoka

good 12km run this morning, though it was tough at times. Pace was good, better than expected. Was tough and had to stop a couple of times to rest for a moment, especially on a couple of uphills...

good 10km run this morning. felt tough at times but overall ran well, consistent and fluid.

Saturday, October 2, 2021

good 6.5

 Brooks

Good 6.5km run, especially for a Motzash. Pace was ok, but more importantly felt good and run was fluid and consistent.

Friday, October 1, 2021

good 7

 Hoka

ran a good 7km this morning at a good pace. My leg muscles feel strained, which is a little strange, as I am not running farther or faster than previously - just the opposite - running pretty much the same pace, but generally shorter distances. Maybe the past month or 6 weeks of lower level running because of the holidays effected this..

easy 5

 Brooks

went for a short easy run tonight. Wanted to test my ankle, which was fine, and just have an easy run after a few days of skipping my runs. Also having a slight motivational shortage right now with my running...

good 7.5

 Brooks

tough 7.5km run this morning bu it was good and finished at a decent pace. nothing exciting. Felt like work but it was good. Dont remember tweaking my ankle at any point but the last kilometer or so was tough and was running on a tweaked ankle...

Saturday, September 18, 2021

good 6

 Hoka

rarely can I call a Motzash run good, but tonight's 6km run was good. Good pace and I felt strong. this was more like a mid-week run. Maybe all the messed up holiday and weekend schedules also messed up this rhythm...

Friday, September 17, 2021

good 7

 Hoka

Today was going to be weird because it is post-Yom Kippur, and also post a minor injury (smashed a toe the other day and it was very painful but mostly, not completely, healed). I figured a long run would be too unrealistic and also risky, but I also didnt want a basic 6km. So I ran 7km instead. And it was at a significantly better pace than expected.

Saturday, September 11, 2021

decent 6.5

 Brooks

had a decent paced 6.5km run, which is very good for a Motzash run...

Friday, September 10, 2021

tough 11

 Hoka

This morning's run was a good run but it was tough. 11km and it felt like a struggle throughout, even though overall it was a good pace. Since I started running again this week post-covid I have yet to find a groove and it always feels like a struggle...

Wednesday, September 8, 2021

slow 6

 Hoka

slow 6km run tonight after the holiday finished. 2 days of eating and sitting in shul, a low 6km is the best I could expect

Monday, September 6, 2021

back to 6.5

 Brooks

first run in 11 days or so. After my last run my corona test came back positive so I had to be in quarantine for 10 days. While I was feeling fine, I still could not go out and run due to the required quarantine. Now that I am allowed out, I got out this morning for a run, unsure of what it would be like - would covid have affected me in some way that I was unaware of while sitting at home? would ten days of sitting at home have affected me?

So I went out with no expectations but I felt fine. Had a good 6.5km run at a good pace.

BH covid seems to have come and gone for me personally with little to no lasting effects.

lost 15

 Hoka

I went out feeling good thinking I would do my 18-20km route As I was at the top of Gimmel approaching 9km, in advance of turning left down to the 375 and Netiv HaLamed Hei, I decided to turn right instead, and run down the bridge back to Aleph, even though it would mean a significantly shorter run - and if I would want to I could extend after that While running through Gimmel, where I really dont know my way around well enough, I got lost, even though I stopped a couple of times to look at Google Maps to get an idea of where I should be running. When I noticed that I was right where I had begun, at the edge of Gimmel with the ability to turn left down to 375, I realized I was not going to be running that way. I decided to run back the regular way, not the long way or the short way I was going to try. I ended up running 15km at a good pace.

Wednesday, August 25, 2021

hot 8

 Hoka

good 8km run at a good pace. I got a bit of a late start but when I went out there was still a slightly cool breeze so I was pleasantly surprised, but it heated up quickly and the breeze mostly disappeared, so it was a hot run. Had a good pace but it was tough

Monday, August 23, 2021

jarring 8

 Hoka

good 8km run at a good pace but it felt jarring. Every step was rough. It was not a smooth run, but overall it was good.

Sunday, August 22, 2021

tough 6

 Brooks

6km at a slowish pace. I almost gave up immediately as everything just felt bad as I started. I knew it wouldnt be a great run, tired from a bad night and muscles that felt sore from my fast run on Friday. I pushed to keep going and felt a little bit as I got into a groove, but I figured to just keep it short at 5km. As I approached 4km I decided to go to 6.

Friday, August 20, 2021

great 6.5

 Brooks

great 6.5km run. felt great, ran strong in the heat. kept it short today because of shortage of time with a lot to do

Friday, August 13, 2021

good 6.5

 Hoka

I didnt run all week due to feeling tired and worn out, probably partly because of the heat. I even went out to run one morning and just decided I couldnt, so then decided to take the week off and rest my body. I went out this morning for a short run and ran 6.5km. It was very hot but I had a good run at a good pace.

ok 6

 Brooks

ok Motzash 6km run.

My Hokas are nearing the end of their life. I have enough mileage logged on them to retire them, plus the unknown mileage on them from before I started tracking. they still feel fine so for now I am going to continue using them, but they are looking like it might be end of life soon.

Good 10+

 Hoka

good run but tough. felt a little tired with heavy legs. originally wanted to run farther but it just didnt feel like it was going to happen

Wednesday, July 28, 2021

tough 11

 Hoka

This morning's run was a struggle. Nothing felt smooth and the entire run, even at a good pace, just felt like hard work. from the first step. While initially I had planned to run 11-12km, as I started running and was running 2 or 3 kilometers, I had decided to just cut it at 6 or 7km. it was just  too much of a struggle. It didnt get better but I decided at some point to just push through and stick with the original plan. I finished with 11km at a good pace

Monday, July 26, 2021

really good 10

good 10

 Hoka

good 10km run in hot humid weather. got a later start than expected, so it was warmer than I would have preferred. I seem to not be overly motivated right now so I find myself skipping runs and also stopping multiple times during the runs, even though I seem to be running consistently faster....

great 16

 Hoka

great 16km run this morning at a very good pace. Felt great all the way through.

Across Kishon, bridge to Gimmel, Yarmuth Park, Up across Eliyahu Hanavi in Gimmel and back, down to Road 10 (3855), across to 375, and back home.

And my early start means I beat the heat wave that is supposed to start today.

Wednesday, July 14, 2021

Really Good 8

 Hoka

Really good 8km run this morning at a great pace. So why wasnt it a great run - why only really good? Because I ran significantly faster than normal, it did require me to stop a few times, briefly but still stopped for air. Great pace isnt everything

Sunday, July 11, 2021

back to 6

 Brooks

After nearly a week of no running, I am back to it this morning with a decent 6km run at a decent pace. The weather has gotten more consistently hot and we are going through a stage now of muggy humid weather, so it was not too pleasant, but happy to be back out there anyway.

Sunday, July 4, 2021

good 6.5

 Brooks

had a good 6.5km run this morning at a very good pace. The run was only good, not very good, because I needed to stop a couple of time to catch a brief break...

 Brooks

I really didnt want to run tonight. Very humid plus just wasnt feeling up to it. But I decided to go out for a short run. The run was good at an ok pace, but I really wasnt too into it

Friday, July 2, 2021

very good 6.5

 Hoka

good 6.5km run. after travelling was too tired for a long run. had a really great strong run with a very fast pace, surprisingly.

As difficult as it to run run long on a treadmill, the one benefit of the treadmill is that I dont have to run hills on it if I dont want to. But it was really great to be out on the roads again running outdoors...

Wednesday, June 30, 2021

8 I think

 Hoka

good 8ish km run on the treadmill again. I think. Last one for a long time.

Monday, June 28, 2021

Friday, June 25, 2021

16.5 I think

 Hoka

I still dont know how the technology for indoor tracking works and if the distance and pace is recorded accurately, but I ran what was recorded as 16.5km, all on the treadmill and at a good pace. And I could have gone longer as I felt good, but needed to get moving to start my day.

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

10 I think

 Hoka

I am in transit so I am off schedule. I did not run outside because it was early and dark, did not want to run in what seemed like dangerous conditions so I ran on a treadmill. I have no idea how the technology works but my watch an indoor running option - I dont know how it tracks my speed and distance, but it had me at 10km at a decent pace. I kept upping the speed on the treadmill during the run andf it felt like I was running faster than usual and this only gave me a decent pace, but based on the amount of time I ran it seems it would not be too far off, if at all, so whatever.

10km at a decent pace

unusual Motzash 6.5

 Brooks

Tonight's run was unusual. For a Motzash run it was great (though for a regular run it was just decent).

Normally Motzash runs require pitstops, along with being out of sync, heavy feeling, hard to breathe, and super slow. Part of that is overeating on Shabbos and part of that is due to my Friday long run causing me to still be sore.

Well, despite this Friday's long run being 20km, and at a good pace, I felt fine tonight, and despite overeating on Shabbos I felt fine tonight and had a good 6.54km run at a decent pace.

Friday, June 18, 2021

good 20

 Hoka

In advance I felt like it would be a good run and that I would push to the high teens or maybe even 20km. While out, despite feeling great and having a great run, a couple of times I decided to cut it short. At one point I thought maybe cut it at 7 or 8km, then at 12ish. Each time I thought that I dont need to run long, I am not training for anythign, and I actually had some work stuff on my mind and that i needed to deal with...

I pushed forward and extended my routes and before I knew it, I was set to finish at a little more than 19km, so I extended a little more and finished at 20km at a good pace

Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Monday, June 14, 2021

much better 10

 Hoka

After a few recent runs that were not so great, I thought today would be another. Turns out it was a pretty good run. 10km at a good pace, and I felt fine running, with no need to take a bunch of rest stops, as some recent runs have gone....

Sunday, June 13, 2021

lousy 6

 Hoka

the run itself was lousy, but I ran 6km at a decent pace. I was feeling lousy and uncomfortable and I kept stopping for micro-breaks. I was just off kilter and off balance.

Friday, June 11, 2021

tired 7.5

 Hoka

While originally i had been looking forward to a nice long run this morning, realistically my intentions had to change after I went paddle boarding yesterday. Additionally, in the evening I experienced some knee pain out of the blue. I had no idea what I would be able to run on Friday morning. It turns out my knee is mostly ok, but my body was so tired, especially my legs, from the paddle boarding that I just took it easy. I was resigned to just running short and then decided I should at least trudge along a little further to make it more than an average weekday run. I ended with a 7.5km run at a slowish pace -slowish but not as slow as my really slow runs.

Wednesday, June 9, 2021

good 12

 Brooks

good 12km run this morning. I have been feeling a bit out of synch this week, so I didnt run hard, but I ran steady and the pace was decent, a little on the slow side of decent, but decent. but it was a good run.

Monday, June 7, 2021

good 8.5

 Brooks

This morning was a good 8.5km run, even though the pace was a little on the slow side. The run felt good, I didnt push hard, an ran steady.

Sunday, June 6, 2021

Motzash 5

 Hoka

lousy 5km run. Kept it short to 5km because of being short on time, and it was a lousy run anyway

hilly 10

 Hoka

I planned on a shorter run than recent long runs, but not as short as it ended. I decided to finally run Nehar Dan, the new road between RBS and BS that looks really good for running. I started off with the start of my regular running route in the neighborhood and then ran down to the start of Nehar Dan. I realized in advance there would be some hill running, especially on the way back from Bet Shemesh, but the amount was unexpected, and it was causing me some pains in my knee and ankles. Because of that and more because of feeling wiped out with all the steep hill climbing, I cut my run on Dan short and turned around -  i just couldnt imagine making it back if I would run all the way across as planned.

I finished my run at 10km at a decent pace but feeling wiped out.

Wednesday, June 2, 2021

good 6.5km run tonight after not running for a week. Was better than a normal Motzash run, likely because I am not recovering from a long Friday run as I am most weeks.... decent pace and felt pretty good

Friday, May 21, 2021

good 18

 Brooks

good 18km run. The first 3/4 of the run was really good. The last couple of kilometers was on the slow side. Despite the slow finish, the overall pace was decent.

 HOKA

pretty good 10km run this morning. Nothing exciting, just ran in good weather, pushed a bit, and got good distance and a good pace

Tuesday, May 11, 2021

good 6.5

 HOKA

good 6.5km run. felt great, ran strong without much effort.

Funnily enough, I realized that different runs on different days can have almost the same exact parameters - similar pace, similar distance, same route, etc, yet one will be categorized as good, another as ok, another as difficult, and another as great...it is not necessarily the results that define the run, how fast I ran or how far I ran, but the process and if I had good energy, if I was able to push myself, if I felt good and in rhythm, etc. The results themselves are less important.

Monday, May 10, 2021

ok 6.5

 HOKA

I didnt run yesterday and was not going to run today, because of feeling a little under the weather. Yesterday was combined with the extreme heat, but today is more normal weather. At one point I just said I am going to go out, and maybe sweat it out. I figured I would just go out for a short easy run, burn a few calories, sweat a bit, and go home. I did take it somewhat easy, but still ran 6.5km at a pretty good pace

Saturday, May 8, 2021

ok 6.5

 HOKA

not a bad Motzash run. Decent. slow but reasonable pace, one pit stop. not horrible

Friday, May 7, 2021

take two 6.5

 HOKA

take 2.

I went out this morning for a run but wasn't really feeling it. I was tired and unmotivated and just didnt want to be running. With a little niggle in my ankle, I just bailed and went home.

Later in the morning I decided to go out for my run, planning for a regular short run instead of the normal Friday run. While it was uninspired and lackluster, at least I was out there running 6.5km at a decent pace.

Thursday, May 6, 2021

too good 5

 Brooks

Even though I normally try not to run on Thursdays, so as not to hurt my runs on Friday, when I do run on Thursday I try to take it easy and make it a light run. After two days of not running, I felt like I needed to get out for a run this morning, but I wanted to take it easy. I kept finding myself running too fast and strong, and kept slowing myself down, but was still running at a faster than desired pace. To make up for it I cut my run down to a 5km run.

Sunday, May 2, 2021

good 6.5

 Brooks

had a good 6.5km run. felt a little on tired legs but pushed hard even in the warm temps and had a good run

Motzash 6.5km run. not horrible, decent but very slow

good 17

 Brooks

good 17km run at a good pace, even though the last two, especially the last one, kilometers were very slow. I went out not kno0wing how much I would run. At first i though long, maybe more than 18, then thought to keep it short, maybe 12 or even 8km. So I just ran and figured I would figure it out as I go along. I felt fine, so just kept going, and kept extending it more and more. Eventually I figured I would finish at 15, 16km.. when I was approaching the end I realized I would break 16, so I extended it a bit to hit 17km, even though that was a lousy final km.

great 8

 Brooks

I wanted to run 10-12km today but got a late start and knew I wouldnt have time for that, so I settled for 8km. I ran hard and at a very good pace. Temps are heating up and though it was warm when I was out, it was still fairly pleasant

good 6

 Brooks

had a good 6km run this morning at a decent pace. Did not push or go itnense - just wanted to be out there but did not try to run hard

Sunday, April 25, 2021

very good 6

 Brooks

didnt get out early today, after a late night last night. Thought I wouldnt run today due to timing, but some time cleared up late morning and I got out. But man was it hot. Had a good 6km run at a very good pace. I love running in the sun and heat, but it is tough.

not lousy 6

 HOKA

typical lousy Motzash run - slow, disjointed, bit of a struggle... but it wasnt really lousy. it was all the above for 6km but it wasnt horrible.

Friday, April 23, 2021

very good 17

HOKA

didnt know how much I would run today. Was waffling between a short 6km, a long run and a medium run as options - basically everything was wide open. Even once I started I didnt know, but as I approached 6 I decided to keep going and on to my 10ish route. Once I was headed up along the edge of RBS C on Eliyahu Hanavi St, I decided I would run it to the end and then down to 375 and back to RBS on the 10. That brought me to 17, and it was at a good pace.

great 10

 Brooks

had a very energetic 10km run this morning. Ran hard and ran strong and felt great.

hot 7

 HOKA

I was not going to run today, but my schedule changed, so I allowed myself the luxury. It was so hot, even early. The heat was overwhelming. I had a good 7km run at a good pace, but it was tough and I had to stop multiple times for a few moments.

Sunday, April 18, 2021

hot 6.5

 Brooks

wow, that was hot. something like 32-35c, about 90-95f. It was a good run but the heat was tough. 6.5km at a good pace.

The heat tomorrow will be worse, but tomorrow won't be a running day because of my schedule, which is why i ran today

Motzash 6.5

 Brooks

had an ok run tonight, decent for a Motzash. Slow but I went out expecting that. Ran a little further than expected, at 6.5km.

bleary 10

 HOKA

I wanted to get a nice long run in today but it was not meant to be. I was feeling lousy, both from overeating yesterday and from some really bad hayfever this morning.

I struggled through 10km. Even though I ran it at a good pace overall, it was a struggle the entire way with me eyes, noses and throat all burning plus feeling wiped and out of sync.

Just one of those days

great 10

 HOKA

great 10km run. i got tired a few times and winded so stopped for brief breaks. I think I suffered from the heat as I got out to run later than planned, and it is really warming up now. Despite that I had a great 10km run at a great pace, and I love running in the sun.

great 6

 Brooks

great 6km run. Weather is getting warmer and it was beautiful out when I ran. I felt great, ran hard, really pushed, and had a great run at a great pace.

good 7

 Brooks

I haven't taken much of a liking yet to these new Brooks shoes I'm wearing. But I ran in them today and had a good 7km run in nice overall weather but with a cold wind.

good 13

 HOKA

this was a bad week of running for me - ie, I havent really run this week. Bad timing, busy work week and some other stuff happening. I got out today and didn't know what to expect. Missing 5 or 6 days of running is really not a big deal, but you do get out of rhythm.

The 13km run was good and at a good pace, but at times I felt winded and it also felt like I was favoring one leg mroe than the other and it was feeling overworked at times. that usually means bad form, but the pace was good despite that which is unusual, as bad form also usually means slower pace. I couldn't really correct it so I just pushed through. I had to stop a few times, for phone calls, as I saw an old running friend getting off his bike, and one or two others, but overall it was a good run.

good 6

 HOKA

good 6km run. Didnt run hard but still at a good pace. Beautiful weather. Tomorrow is supposed to start a heat wave for a few days....

Friday, April 2, 2021

good 12.5

 HOKA

good 12.5km run. wanted to run this morning but it didnt work out. then I thought it was too cold and windy and was expected to rain. Then I just went out. It actually rained the last 3 or so kilometers of my run, but only a light rain. not unpleasant at all.

I got in 12.5km at a good pace. was a bit windy and overcast, with, as mentioned, a light rain for part of the run.

Thursday, April 1, 2021

good 6.5

 Brooks 8

after officially retiring my ON shoes, I figured today would be a good day to start breaking in my new pair of running shoes -a pair of Brooks Launch 8. I figured today will be a short and low intensity run, so it would be good to see how it feels and start breaking them in.

They felt fine. The run was good, 6.5km at a good pace. Beautiful weather but very windy.

ok 6

 ON

I think this was my last run in my ON Running shoes. Time to switch out my pairs. I feel everything in them and they seem to hurt my ankles.

My run was ok. I havent been feeling well. Allergies and whatnot and havent been sleeping well, so body was feeling a bit tired and worn out. Just went for an easy run. 6km at an OK pace.

Thursday, March 25, 2021

good 6

 ON

Had a good run. 6km. took it easy and ran a good pace. Didnt want to push. I dont know if I will have time tomorrow to run,, but if I do I want to have a good one, so I took it easy today.

I wore my ON shoes and could really feel the difference. It is really time to retire them.

Wednesday, March 24, 2021

great 10

 HOKA

great run this morning. Almost perfect weather. A little breezy, but besides for that perfect for running. After a couple days of no running, I was itching to go. I got out early enough and ran strong. As soon as I went out I said I want to hit 10. So, I ran 10km at full strength.

Sunday, March 21, 2021

good 7

 HOKA

good 7km run. Over the next few days we are supposed to be experiencing a heat wave, so today I made sure to get out earlier. It was already very warm, but nice and I got in a good 7km run. Comparing how my HOKA shoes felt this morning to how my ON felt last night, I really think it is time to retire the ON shoes and move on to my next pair. I will probably run in them once or twice more before deciding it as a final decision (assuming they continue to feel that way)

Saturday, March 20, 2021

ok 6

 ON

After taking most of last week off of running (after a couple of bad runs early in the week), I got back to it tonight with a 6km run. The run was ok. I felt ok, though a little out of routine and form felt bad. I am pretty sure my ON shoes are on their last legs and it might be time to put them out to pasture.

Sunday, March 14, 2021

ok 6.5

 ON

not a great run but thought it would be. Was feeling good but as I was running my lower legs just felt so worn out. I think it was bad form. When I would try to correct it things would get better, but I just could not hold it today.

I ran 6.5km at an ok pace. Not great, not bad.

gloomy 10

 HOKA

I went for a run thinking I'd run maybe 18km, or even 20, and then nearly ran just 200m. I was feeling tight and uncomfortable and everything just felt wrong. I nearly bailed a a couple of times, first at 200meters, and then again shortly after. I kept going figuring I would just make it a short and slow run. It got slightly better as my body warmed up. The winds and overcast skies did not really make it more pleasant of a run.

I then planned to stop at 5km - just get myself to there and that would be respectable enough. As I was approaching 6 I said I'll just go a little more. I kept doing that and soon enough I figured I'll just try to hit double digits/ I was slow, it was difficult, it was uncomfortable, but I did it. 10km.

Thursday, March 11, 2021

easy 6.5

 HOKA

did I say yesterday that I was not goin to run today? Well, I ran today. Just felt like it. But just to stretch the legs and get some fresh air. I went out with the intent to have a soft and easy run. No pushing myself, no hard work. And that's what I did. I ran easy. I was going to run 5 but ended up running 6.5km.

And, yes, I did cross paths with a kid riding a unicycle.

Wednesday, March 10, 2021

staggered 8.5

 HOKA

this is a run that should have been longer, but also shouldnt have happened. 8.5km at a fast pace,  but I was interrupted so many times with work and personal issues, I just couldnt get into a rhythm, plus it was super unusually hot. But, at the end fof the day, i got the run in, and that's better than not running.

great 6

 ON

great 6km run. was going to be an off day, but I really felt like running in great weather, so I dd. Felt really good so had to hold myself back from running more, so that tomorrow I can also hopefully have a good run

very good 7

 ON

very good 7km mid-day run after returning from Tel Aviv. I thought today would be an off day because of my schedule, but it worked out and I was able to get a run in. I ran hard and fast. Late in the run I felt a little worn out but still pushed myself

Sunday, March 7, 2021

ok 6.5

 ON

had an ok run. at a decent pace. Felt a little winded. Amazing though. I call it a decent pace as it was slower than all my recent runs since I took out my orthotic inserts, but it was still much faster than all my runs from when I was running with my inserts.

Friday, March 5, 2021

Fabulous 17

 HOKA

had a fabulous 17km run in great weather. I ran regular routes around. Was set to finish at 15 and then decided I would run down to my daughter's house to say hi to my granddaughter, so I would finish at 16. I got there to discover she had just gone down for a nap, so i took a drink and ran home to finish at 17..

Wednesday, March 3, 2021

great 10

after a few days of not running due to Purim and some other issues, I got out this morning despite the crick in ym neck. I took it a bit easy due to the crick, and overall it felt good. I ran at a good pace and the run was a good run.

windy 6.5

 ON

very good 6.5km run in the strong winds. A minor storm is coming this afternoon and the winds have picked up and are very strong, making it difficult to run in some directions. Got in a strong 6.5km run though at a pretty good pace despite the winds.

tough 7.5

ON

wanted to run 7, but was over by a bit so extended to 7.5km. Was a bit tough. Beautiful weather but after a few days of stormy weather and no running, today's run was tough. I ran hard and had a great pace (no orthotic inserts again), but I felt worn out a bit. Tough run but good to be out there again and good results.

Tuesday, February 16, 2021

great 6.5

 HOKA

another great run at a fast pace, feeling strong and enjoying the sun. Again ran without my orthotic inserts. 6.5km and felt strong throughout.

Storm is coming, they say, so i got it in while the day is still beautiful and warmish. This afternoon/evening we are expecting a bad storm with really cold temperatures, and it is unknown if I'll be able to run in the coming days, but for now I was able to take advantage of great weather.

Monday, February 15, 2021

great 7.5

 HOKA

just had a great 7.5km run. Great pace. exceptionally fast, for me, and I felt great all the way,. I dont know how I ran so fast. I havent run this fast in a long time. It was either a fluke, or the only thing I changed that might have caused it was I ran without my orthotic inserts. I will definitely try that again on another day to test this further. I did not know that orthotic inserts slow you down, but it is the only thing I changed today from the past several months of running.

I actually was not going to run today. I felt like skipping, but with a storm on the horizon starting tomorrow according to the forecasts, I was worried I might not get too many more runs in this week. Glad I did

great 10km run. much warmer than expected. funny how in the summer I'll run in much warmer weather than this and be ok, but in the winter when it is this warm it is tough. anyway, great run in beautiful warm weather.

great 10

 ON

After another cold and rainy morning, I thought I would miss my regular Wednesday run. Later in the morning it suddenly cleared up and was bright and sunny with some nice white clouds, but I was working. I could only hope that the gap in the rains before the coming storm would last long enough to give me some time to run.

Finally I got my chance, though by then the rain clouds were already moving back in and it had gotten colder and windier. Still decent weather, with some bits of sun, and I took advantage and went out. I was hoping for 8km, but left it open to depend on the weather.

I ended up running 10km really strong and at a great pace, despite the strong headwind in some places.

Tuesday, January 19, 2021

good 6.5

ON

good 6.5km. I thought it would be another no-run day because of cold, wind and rain and not much time. I was outside and it was such a beautiful day I decided that when I get back i would go for a run. So I did. a bit tough with a cold wind, but overall it was really nice and I had a good run.

Sunday, January 17, 2021

easy 6.5

 On

still feeling a little stiff, I went for an easy 6.5km run. Didnt go early morning because it was too cold and I procrastinated, but when I finally got out the cold didnt bother me, though the headwinds did. I knew I wouldnt get an amazing run in, so I just took it easy and was happy to get any run in.

good run for a MOtzash. very slow, but steady,, felt good though stiff

wet 8

 On

yesterday I didnt run. I woke up a little too late so didnt have time and when I had time later I decided not to so that I'd be able to have my Friday long run, even though I really wanted to.

Then the storm hit. I was hoping I would have a nice gap in the morning to run, and I did. But it was still cold and rainy, and after a tough night I decided I would only run a basic 5km. I was felling good though and the rain was only light, so while I knew I would not be running the 15 or 18km I had originally planned, I knew I could do more than 5. So I extended it and ran 8km. There was a light rain throughout the ru but overall it was a pretty good run at a decent pace.

tired 8

 HOKA

I was a bit surprised to see my final average pace being pretty decent, as I felt like my legs were very heavy and tired during the run. I started off well and was running strong, but from about 3km my legs just felt tired. I pushed on, but it didnt feel like such a strong run. Happy with my 8km run, and the better than expected pace is a bonus

The run was actually a good one, but I was tired after a late night. I ran strong, but felt tired. I had to stop once to rest for a moment, and then got lucky when I had to take a business call which forced me to stop a second time. Besides for that though the run itself was pretty good 7km at a good pace. Beautiful warm weather soaking up the warm rays of the sun

Unexpected 16

 Hoka

I went out looking for a 14km run, maybe pushing to 15, but ended with a 16km run. It was a good run. Was feeling good, got up early, air was cool though there was a strong breeze.

Regular route across Kishon and bridge to Gimmel, up through Yarmuth Park and then across Eliyahu Hanavi past Gimmel. At the junction there I was torn as to whether turn around, turn right and explore, or turn left and take the road down to the 375. I was very tempted, but I felt 17km would be too much for the day and forced myself to turn around or turn right instead.

instead of turning back I turned onto Zechariah and ran until the section down to Tzeelim. It was nice to explore on the edge of RBS C and D and get a sense of the directions out there. That would have brought me down near my house with not enough distance, so I turned back and ran back Zechariya the other way, and took Eliyahu Hanavi back to RBS A. Then I ran part of Hayarden and turned around and ran home. I ended with 16 because I kept adding just a bit more, as I was feeling good. Pace wasn't great but wasn't bad either. Slow, but not too slow.

relaxed 5

 On

after my Saturday night I discovered that last week I had been exposed to someone COVID-positive, so I had to go into quarantine. I have now finished my quarantine, with two negative tests, and was finally able to run this morning.

Taking it easy, I ran a relaxed 5km in warmer early morning weather than it has been in a while.

 Hoka

lousy 5km. Perfect Motzash run. Everything hurt. Everything was uncomfortable.

good 11

 On

Had a good 11km run just now, mid-day. Beautiful weather but slightly warmer than expected. Wanted to run earlier and longer but schedule got messed up unexpectedly. When finally able to run, I was really too tired to push for 15 or so. I considered just a short 5 or 6km run, and I considered pushing to 13 or 14 km. In the end after changing my mind during the run a dozen times, I ran 11km at a decent pace.
