good 8

It was nice running in the sunlight. My runs recently have mostly been in the dark or the dull early morning light, because sunrise has gotten very late. This morning I got a bit of a later start and the sun was already out and fully up. Not really hot yet, but bright and sunny. It was nice.

Anyway, I had a good 8km run. Everything felt good and I felt stronger than previous days. And it shows in the results of a longer run at a slightly better pace.

Tomorrow will not a non-running day.

very slow 5

against my better judgement I decided to go for another run this morning rather than take Tuesday off. 5km at a very slow pace. As I was approaching the 4.5km mark around where I either turn right to extend it to a 6 or more run, or I turn around to cut it at 5, I was tempted to go to 6. Just because. I forced myself to just turn around and finish at 5.

disjointed 7

I felt fine today - not fully recovered from Friday's long run but much better and closer to normal. I expected a pretty good run today. And it actually felt like a good run. But it was really slow. Nearly as slow as yesterday's recovery run. I felt like I was running faster, a more recently average pace, but it was a really slow pace. Just felt strange. I felt good so I pushed up my planned 6 to 7.

recovery 5

this morning's run really felt like a recovery run, which hasn't happened in a long time. Stiff, joints weak, just plodding and clodding along. A very slow run, but it felt like it would help me have a good run next time.

good 11

Went out planning to run 10km, depending on how I'd feel on the run. I felt good. I started out across Kishon as always, and then instead of running across the bridge and up the park I just ran straight up Hayarqon . I decided I was going to run out on the 10, which I have not done in a long time. I both wanted to and I was also curios to check out the roadblocks that are supposed to be there for the lockdown, and to see if the would stop me, but the non-running aspect was secondary.

So up and out I go, no roadblocks no nothing. I ran out. The road is under construction so thee were some hazardous spots, but all was good. I ran out on the 10 to the 375 and turned at the end and ran back. I hit 11 only because of the distances or where I chose to run, not because I decided to keep going or anything dramatic like that, but I felt pretty good throughout.

One of my problems is that often I look down when I run - just to a short distance in front of my feet. I do that often when I walk, but when I run it is also to protect myself from tripping over obstacles, even though I know I would see them even if I looked a bit up and spread my view over a greater distance. It also indicates bad form, so it is something I try to work on, but I often just find myself doing it naturally for long periods of time before I remember to lift my head a bit and straighten my back.

Well, today it was a problem. Besides for just generally doing it, I was running through a portion of road construction, uphill, so I was more watching my foot placement so I wouldnt hurt myself. Sure enough, instead of twisting my ankle on rocks or upended sidewalk tiles, I smashed my head into a low hanging street advertising sign. I have always noticed the  sign on my way out as I run under it and always thought it comes awfully close, but when you see it you adjust your gait and are careful to run under it. On the way back in, running uphill through construction, I just didn't see it at all. I ran right into it, smashing the top portion of my head, with my hat slightly dulling the impact. It knocked me dead in my tracks as I fell and my glasses flew off my face from the sweat and inertia. I stumbled a bit to pick them up and get up and noticed a car stopping up ahead to make sure I was alright. I checked myself and saw everything seemed ok and kept going and the driver was in the meantime turning around and coming back to check on me. I told him I was ok as I started running again, and headed back home.

I guess it will swell up a bit and hurt more a little later, but I think it is ok. Besides for that it was a really good 11km run, albeit it, slow as always

pretty good 7

pretty good 7km run. was planning to run 6.5, assuming a good run (I felt good when going out but that doesnt always translate to a good run), but I felt so good out there that when I passed the 5km mark I decided being a Wednesday I should bump it up to 7

low expectation 5

today i just wanted to get out there. I had no expectations. After Yom Kippur and building the sukka last night, I slept very poorly, so I went out tired and sore. I took it easy and overall the run was fine, albeit it extremely slow. That's ok. I got out and started my day with a run.

good 6.5

had a good 6.5km run. Nothing exciting. just a good early morning run

on today's run my mind wandered back to previous years when I was marathon training at this point of the year. I remembered running at 3 in the morning to be back for selichos after a 25 or 30km run along roads 38, 375, the 383, the 353 under the beautiful starry skies... good times

tough 9

I wanted to break 7 and was hoping for 8-9km. It was a struggle from the first step. Humidity was not too bad and temps seem to have dropped slightly, but from the first step everything felt stiff and heavy and like I shouldn't bother. But I pressed on. As I approached 9km I considered briefly extending it to 10km. I resisted the urge and cut it at 9. Overall a good, very slow, run but it was a struggle.

great 6.5

didnt have time to post this morning and then forgot later as the day went on. Had a great 6.5km run this morning. Slow, but everything felt good. Hot, humid, all the regular stuff for this time of year, but it was a good run.

good 5

good 5km run this morning. haven't run since Wednesday. Went Friday to run but had some pain in my foot so bailed, and yesterday was a fast day so took an extra rest day because of it. Today everything felt fine and had a good slow run.

good 6.5

got a little bit of a later start than planned, so stopped at 6.5km, but it was a good run, even if very humid. Felt pretty good and in rhythm even though it was a slow run, No need to stop at all.

tough 6

I was planning to not run today,as I prefer to run on Wednesday over Tuesdays, and while both are possible, sometimes it is one or the other. But then I ran. I woke up early and decided to go for it.

6km at a slow pace. tough run. felt like a struggle. I went the extra km to make up for the difficulty in running and slow pace

ok 5

the run didnt feel good. it felt like a struggle. I cut it at 5. Weirdly enough, my pace was better than all the good runs last week, but this run just didnt feel good. I was surprised to see my speed was better.

great 8.5

My goal today was to run more than 7km, hopefully 8.

The run was great, despite the heat, humidity and no air movement. I felt great. No need to stop except for a water break in the park. Finished at 8.5km, and it was my fastest run all week, despite it being a slow run. Obviously it was also my longest run. I think I kept my form pretty good today. Keeping form consistent is not an easy task, especially from run to run (rather than just within any one run)
