post holiday 5

got in a good and relaxed 5km run tonight after the holiday. I took it easy, with being a bit under the weather and a combo of a regular Motzash plus the holiday with overeating and all that matza...

pre holiday run

I thought all was lost for today and that I should have run yesterday. Friday, being erev pesach, was looking to be too busy a day for a run and I had to be out early for an event I had to go to. So suddenly I found myself regretting not running Thursday. Happily I returned form the event early enough that I could go out for a run and the weather was chilly but decent as the rain took a pause for a while.

So out I went, unsure of what distance I would run but hoping I could extend my distance to 9km.

The run was good and I felt strong and my pace was good. And I just kept going and decided I could even beat 9. I finished my run at 10, though I felt like I could have gone more, so that is good. I also beat most of the chametz burning so didn't suffer form the smoke and poor air quality, though the end of my run passed  a few chametz fires just starting up.

Have a happy and kosher pesach and I hope to get a good week of running in to burn off too much holiday food.

rainy 5

I woke up early to run but this Pesach cleaning is finally getting to me. I was so tired that I decided I was not going to run. I went back to bed to try to get a little more sleep, but that wasn't meant to be. Eventually I decided that since I am up anyway I might as well go run. So I did.

After finally getting my act together I went out to run only to discover that it was raining. A light rain, but still rain, and it was a steady rain. I turned around to go back in and again decided that I am already out I might as well run, though I would keep it short.

I ended up running 5.35km in the steady light rain and it was a good run. The rain was even pleasant.

Tuesday 8

felt pretty good out there this morning, but I did not push it or make it a strenuous run. I ran an easy paced 8.25km, enjoying both the pace and he cool air. If I feel good again on tomorrow's run maybe I'll make more of an effort for a stronger pace.

Sunday 5

I promise, I was not planning on running today. After a late meal celebrating a kids birthday and going to sleep late, and after a motzash run, I really was not planning on running this morning. But I woke up early, so what's a guy to do??? I had to go for a run.

Running today was slow but basically felt good. Ended it at 5km, taking everything into consideration.

I will try to not run tomorrow.

Motzash 8

for a Motzash run this was pretty good. Slow, but good. i felt good, felt strong, had no problems, and definitely not the typical uncomfortable Saturday night run.

I expected a 4-5km run, keeping it short as I often do on Motzash, but I felt good right from the start and no discomfort at all in any way, so i decided to keep going. In the end I finished at 8km, feeling good the entire way. It might be time to extend my distance a little more.

tired run

What started out as not great or promising ended up as not so bad.

I woke up early to run but was really tired. I assume this was from a combination of my cold, the heat (we are having a strange heat wave right now) and the change to DST in the middle of the night meaning I had one less hour of sleep. After lethargically preparing to head out, I finally started my run, not expecting much.

I was running so slow and was so tired, I just assumed that when I hit 4km I would just finish my run there (the 4km marker on my route is very near my house) and call it a day. I hit 4km and decided to do 5. And then suddenly I felt a little better, despite the dry and hotter air. My run got a little stronger, still painfully slow but a little stronger and I kept going, despite this portion being uphill up Hayarqon. I ran up to nearly the top of the hill and then turned around. On the way back I decided to continue a bit more and ran back through the Merkaz before turning around.

In the end I finished my run at 7.5km

sun run

I caught a bad cold and because I wasn't feeling well I overslept this morning late enough that it was too late to run.

I had wanted to run today and not run tomorrow, and waking up late threw a wrench into that. Now should I run tomorrow instead or just wait until Friday?

Some free time late morning resolved the problem and I was able to get in a 5km run. It started off great and I was even running at a good pace, until about 4km and then suddenly I felt worn out. Probably a combination of both the heat and my being a bit under the weather. I had considered running 7 but decided to end it at 5. The heat makes it tough but I love running in the sun.

good 5

wasn't feeling great but had a good run. 5km on a beautiful morning before it gets too hot. I felt like I could go much farther but I decided to not stretch it.

struggle

I thought about 48 hours of rest would give my legs time to be fresh and my body to re-energize, but today's run was a struggle. I finished at 4.3km because of it. I guess despite the 2 full days of rest since my Friday run, it was still a real recovery run. Now with this behind me, my legs will get their energy back.

slow 8

I increased my distance again, though not by much.

Today I ran 8km (just over, but only by a little), but it was very slow. Right away I felt my legs wouldnt hold up to a good pace. Running every day this week has taken its toll, and next week I will have to make sure to take a couple days off.

slightly slower 6.5

great early morning run. I knew that later in the day would most likely not be possible today, so I made sure to run early.

I started out running hard again at a better pace, but by kilometer number 4 I started to slow down. My legs just felt tired. I made up for it by extending my run a little bit, concluding at 6.5km. My overall pace was still significantly better than what my average pace has been for a while already, but not as good as the past few days.

faster

mid-day 5km run. Beautiful sunny skies, a bit warmer than I had expected.

I ran hard again, third day in a row. Felt good, though by the end I was a little wiped out and slowing down. Third day in a row of improved pace. Will slow down again before I speed up more.

finishing the day with a run

running this morning didnt work out, and I was hoping for mid-day but it just didnt work out. It was one of those days that nothing really went right. I should have made time in the middle of the day, just to clear my head and get a fresh start, but I didnt.

Finally late afternoon an opportunity presented itself and I just went out for a 5km run.

I ran as hard as I could, for the second day in a row, and it felt really good. Hopefully it will help the rest of the day end better.

midmorning

I woke up this morning and decided to not run. Not for any good reason. I wanted to but it was a little later than normal, and I thought it would be good to have a day of rest after 2 days of running. So I didn't run.

Then a confluence of events gave me the opportunity for a mid-morning short run and I just could not resist the call of the beautiful sunny blue skies.

I wet out and ran hard, t a better pace, but it was painful, good painful, and got 4km in. I was still looking for anywhere for another 1-3km, but I got a work call. I stopped running and went walking from there. about 15-20 minutes later it finished and I continued running, but I  was really already done. I finished at 6km, but about 1 or so km of it was walking.

Sunday too, not 2

Good start to the week. I usually will run on either Saturday night after Shabbos or Sunday morning, but not both. This week I already ran last night and just finished another run this morning.

It was a little chillier than I expected but a beautiful sunny morning with crisp air and a beautiful blue sky. I got in a 5km run and am ready to start my day!

Motzash

Decent short Motzash run. Started off not feeling great but after about half a kilometer I settled in and the rest of the way went pretty well. I kept it short and hope to have another run tomorrow morning

Jerusalem Marathon Day

today is Jerusalem Marathon day. Obviously I am not running in the marathon, but in honor of the marathon I wore an old Jerusalem Marathon running shirt when I went out to run this morning. Also, I added significantly to my distance.

Beautiful weather and I felt good, finishing my run at 7.5km. I didnt feel like I was pushing myself beyond my capabilities. It felt good and natural. I ran across Kishon and then up Hayarqon to Hayarden. On Hayarden I ran some extensions and then back down to my house.

short 4

This morning I went out intentionally planning to run a shorter run.... and I stuck to the plan.

I kept today's run to 4km, again in beautiful weather, wonderful to be outside, blah blah blah.

Runing too much, even short distances, is a sure way to reinjure the injury I just recovered from, and I have to be more careful about that. Tomorrow I will probably not run at all and then go out on Friday for a nice run.

We'll see what happens

up to 6

Today was a 6km day. I dont know why, but while I was out there I just decided I can extend it a bit and after I did I saw that I was set to finish at about 5.6km so I figured I'll just bump it up to 6.

Fabulous weather, felt good, happy to be out getting some fresh air and exercise

Sunday morning 5

I'm getting there.

This morning's 5km run felt good. Slower than my last two 5km runs but still felt good. Another one or two of these and I'll be ready to extend myself a little more and maybe work on 7km.

Nothing unusual. Great weather. Wonderful to be outside. A lousy Saturday night run (even if done on Saturday morning) is still better than no run, and this wasn't even a lousy Saturday night run but a decent one. Ran across Kishon with an extension on Hayarden, then back and down to the Gimmel bridge circle and back home.

Shushan Purim run

Another 5km run is in the bag, though this one was more difficult. My legs felt tired and the run felt a bit like a struggle. I was going to bail at 4km because of it but because I only got a distannce notification at 4.3km I figured I might as well scrape out 5

Pretty good running week for just getting back into it. I ran 6 days out of the week, only missing Taanis Esther

Purim morning run

Everything worked the way it was supposed to today, on this Purim morning run. And I ran 5km.

Runkeeper worked, both tracking me the right distances (and I'll assume the right speed) and it gave me the notifications at the right times. My legs worked. My breathing worked. The weather worked. All is good.

I ran my regular route, across Kishon with an extension on Hayarden, and then back down to the bridge at the beginning of Hayarqon, and then back to home, totalling 5km.

My strength felt good and I think my pace showed me that I am back to my running strength, and now I have to build up my stamina and distance again. Another run or two at this pace and strength and I'll be able to start working on increasing my distance.
